Co-written with Marc Harris, Michael McDonald's EVERY TIME CHRISTMAS COMES AROUND brings back the artist's sound during his latter years with The Doobie Brothers and his early days as a solo artist. Funk-filled, brass-kissed, and brimming with blue-eyed soul, the track beckons revelers all to the dance floor. And while it's hardly possible to capture all the lyrics upon first listening, the song's message comes through the infectious rhythm: every thing feels all right when Christmas comes around. So bring on the holidays!
Betsey Johnson Fashion Show
QUINCY, Mass. — Last Sunday night marked the kickoff to Quincy Fashion Week. And by week we mean day. And by day we mean hour.
The clear highlight of Quincy Fashion Hour was the Betsey Johnson fashion show, held at the Marina Bay Beach Club. The models strutted a beachside runway wearing playful styles currently available at Johnson’s Newbury Street store, including summery dresses, swimsuits and handbags.
Stylists from Salon Marc Harris primped the models for the event, turning out spunky up-dos and making frizzy pigtails a worthy fashion trend. The show started off with the stylists presenting a birthday cake and singing “Happy Birthday” to Harris, who attended the event and blew out his candles on the runway.
While Johnson and her trademark cartwheel were absent from the event, the show stayed true to the designer’s high energy. Models danced along the runway to upbeat music from The Ting Tings, Alien Ant Farm, Lady GaGa and Kevin Rudolf.
The Connecticut-born designer recently unveiled her Fall 2009 collection in New York, entitled “Betsey’s Crocker’s Recipes for Dressings.” All of the outfits in the collection are named after comfort food recipes, including Sex Pot Pie and Triple Cheeseburger Deluxe.
Sunday’s show, however, was more about celebrating what’s left of summer. The sand-strewn runway and whimsical party dresses made us wish there’s a whole lot left.
