Part II brings in more heartthrobs, more oddballs, one walking red flag (jk there are at least five), one entirely unnecessary hunk of early 00s muscle, and Morgan Freeman for reasons that remain between him and God. (get it?... because he played God. 😆🥁)

Back in 2011, during the filming of season 2, Sky had the Mad Dogs boys (+ s2 director James Hawes) make three SkyTV site exclusive videos: a Making Of, Quickfire Interview & "The Boys Are Back".

I found these videos and decided to upload them onto Youtube for easy viewing (rather than having to go through many Russian and Chinese websites to find them, like I did). Only the Making Of video is 480p, the other two are unfortunately 360p.

The videos are a lot of fun: Phil being called the one with the worst temper (and immediately "proving" it lol), John gets compared to a koala by Phil, and whatever's going on between Marc and Max lmao

State of Play (2003)

Journalists uncover a government conspiracy when a young politician's assistant and mistress is killed.

I came across this show when a clip from U appeared in my newsfeed. It starred Bill Nighy, and as I’m a big fan, I decided to check it out. It’s a little old, as it’s from 2003, but it’s a fantastic political thriller. I highly recommend it. It keeps you guessing, with plenty of twists and excellent acting. These days, when so many shows feel formulaic and sometimes full of unnecessary preaching or “messaging”, this show felt fresh and focused purely on the story. Really recommend a watch. It’s free to watch on U, a free channel in the UK.

Rochefort - Michael Wincott The Three Musketeers 1993

Is he book accurate? No. But he does look like those historically-accurate mugs with the men's faces on them. And frankly he is hot. Agonisingly so even. So insanely hot and so well-acted that I forgive them for putting the Rochefort-was-a-Musketeer backstory in solely for the drama it generated and allowing Wincott to blink his big beautiful brown eyes which you will notice are slightly wet (DEPTH!!). I love that he's still beefing with a teenager. I love that he hates his job so much he wants to eat dirt about it. I love his voice. I love that something gay clearly happened between him and Athos in the past and he's not entirely over it. I love his outfits. I love his hair. I love that he barely interacts with Milady so we don't have to experience shoehorned Milady-Rochefort romance. I love him.

Rochefort - Marc Warren The Musketeers 2014-2016

Marc Warren's version of Rochefort is genuinely terrifying. Unpredictable, dangerous, intelligent, ruthless, and an honest-to-God threat to the Musketeers, as he very nearly succeeds in his plans against them and the Queen, leaving more than a few bodies in his wake. The angle taken by the writers, having had him abandoned by the Cardinal and left to rot in a Spanish prison, gives a new dimension to the original character, now making him a man driven mad by his need for revenge and his lust for the Queen. It provides fuel for a scenery-chewing performance by Marc Warren, who drawls and struts his way through the chaos and bloodshed, lying, murdering and manipulating his way to the top (and looks good in leather while doing so haha). And the guy is VERY committed to the drama - all of the man's home and office furnishings are black, he revels in the chance to hold a show trial for Aramis, yells many a command and one-liners while striding down hallways, and yes, he too joins the ranks of 'Rochefort's who wear an eyepatch'. It's an interpretation that makes you absolutely loathe him, and yet, you cannot look away. And strangely... you may even find you pity him.
