#Repost @norman_parkinson • • • • • • On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me … a satin Dior column dress … While Marc Bohan was designer at Dior he became known for his subtle shift of creative emphasis for the fashion house - nudging the couture collections into more modern lines during the time when second-wave feminism was emboldening women around the western world. Of course, he was at the helm for almost 30 years, from 1961 to 1989, so huge cultural changes were moving all fashion-forward. Jerry Hall began her modelling career in the 1970s and hitting the big time naturally meant wearing Dior for Vogue Magazine. The satin robe she wears here is classic deluxe power-dressing. There are no big-shoulder-pads but an asymmetrical silhouette that bears an arm and an excellent over-sized feathered shrug conversely covering up is a commanding shape to wear. Jerry goes full super-model in her dynamic pose here at Versailles.
