ST. PETERSBURG, FLA- The East-West Shrine Game enters its 93rd year, making it college football's oldest showcase game. This year features a plethora of standout talent on the defensive side of the ball. Here are seven players to watch when the players take the field on Saturday, January 20, from Tropicana Field in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida.
Other notable players include Deatrick Nichols-USF/CB, Joe Ostman-Central Michigan/DE, Jamar Summers-UCONN/DB, Jamyius Pittman-UCF/DL, Tre Flowers-Oklahoma State/S, Marcus Martin-SLippery Rock/DE.
The East-West Shrine game offers a great platform for young prospects to work with and make an impression on NFL coaches, and staff leading up to the NFL Draft. A good week of practice and a solid showing on game day could potentially catapult a player's stock and shed light on the skills of lesser-known talent.
