March SAT scores are out! What do the scores mean?

If you took the SAT in March, your scores should have been released at some point yesterday. Today is the online registration deadline for the June SAT.

Be aware that scores on the old and new SAT do NOT mean the same thing. For instance, a student who wanted to score 700 on all sections of the old SAT would now need to score a 730 on both sections of the new SAT. (That also means a score of 700 on both sections of the new SAT--1400 total--is equivalent to a 1990 on the old SAT, or approximately 660-670 per section.)

There are three ways you can convert your scores. The most straightforward and best compilation I’ve seen is here (and also gives you an easy way to compare SAT and ACT scores). The College Board has also released tables (which Compass Prep used to compile the information on my first link) as well as an app/online tool.
