Not sure if other people have caught this before but:

Qifrey thinks his joy isn't as genuine as Olruggio's. He's therefore further away from the panels of happy memories, overlapping Olruggio.

BUT irt also the specific panel they're in front of here..

It's the same fucking field as Chapter 2!!! The two of them set up an entire permanent link the Windoway to this seemingly otherwise seemingly useless flower field in their house as adults.

The place that represents magic bringing happiness to people and reignites Coco's hopes and passion for magic after the opening chapter.

And it's the last panel on the 2 page spread other than the looming tree that's cut off. The last bit of untouched joy Qifrey has.

looking through the reproduction selection artbook and this is purely speculation but did olruggio's fit literally get designed to mirror qifrey's?????

looking through it you can see qifrey's eventual outfit in full or in bits but olruggio consistently has this fit thats nowhere near what we got. specifically, the difference in neckline between this and the final is really striking.

could easily just an artifact of what sketches they chose to showcase in the artbook but it is a distinct possibility in my mind.

random thoughts on qifrey and olruggio's hat accessories.

wha manga spoilers (ch93) ahead.

flashy moving accessories are used as distractions in witches' clothing to hide the secret of magic. (from the reproduction selection artbook)

the key is movement- so I think it's safe to say the long annoying gay hat ribbon is more of a distraction than the still homosexual tassel. visually you can see this throughout the manga and the way the ribbon is framed.

and so I think its fitting that the hat ornament swap where baby olruggio forces qifrey to hold the burden of becoming the liar, the one who has to keep a terrible secret, has olly trading the duplicitous ribbon for the tassel and vice versa.

just some real neat visual storytelling!
