Listened to a Marc Shaiman (@marc_shaiman) soundtrack this week: “The American President”.

Elevating, “presidential” melodies that reminded me of Snuffy Walden’s music for Aaron Sorkin’s “The West Wing”.

Shaiman should have written more film music and less musicals, I think. (Amongst others, he wrote the music for “Catch Me If You Can” - the musical from 2011, not the Spielberg movie from 2002.)

And here’s why: musicals are mostly enjoyed in New York, films have a global audience!
