"I’ll make a confession. I hate Bourbon Street. And I love Bourbon Street. It reeks of alcohol to the point of nauseating, there’s some couple in the dark corner drunkingly doing what was meant to be a horizontal dance (IN PUBLIC MIND YOU!), and there’s some poor soul who threw up his intestines and other miscellaneous organs because he drank too much. But you know why I visit it? Because that’s where we first met. You know why I continue to go down there with you despite absolutely loathing that place? Because I like spending time with you. And every second of every minute of every hour of every night that I spend with you is like an addiction that I can’t—won’t—stop. The way the low lights reflect the shine in your hair, the way you laugh when you find something funny when you’d think the exact opposite sober, and the way you give me those lovely pearl smiles when you think I’m not looking are just so precious to me. And it only happens on that particularly street that I abhor. And that’s why I hate but love Bourbon Street."
