no one asked but here’s a venn diagram of my biggest three ships of the last 3 years because i started to realise i have a type :)
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Rating: Teen and Up
Summary:
Things are different now. And it’s a good different.
Lori is different too. She’s still a little fragile, which is to be expected. She’s a new mom again to a son she used to be afraid she wouldn’t be able to love with her whole heart. She’s not afraid of that anymore. Hasn’t been for a long time.
And Mare is different. Definitely more fragile. She knows now that it’s necessary to say what you feel, even if it ends in the both of them crying their hearts out, which it often does. Less so, now.
Mare sees Lori coming back to herself more and more everyday. Like today, for example.

Rating: Teen and Up
Summary:
It feels like she’s had this dream for the hundredth night in a row. In reality is has been four. Four very long, depressing nights. She glances at the clock. 3:07AM.
And for some reason, tonight, out of hundreds of nights, is different to all the others.
Mare pulls on her boots and grabs her car keys.
“What the fuck am I doing?” She whispers to herself, as she opens up the front door, taking a second to think about it but knowing if she takes too long she’ll turn right back around and go lie awake for 5 more hours.
When she reaches Lori’s place she’s not even sure what to do. She just knows she has to figure it out fast before she realises what she’s actually doing.
And that’s how she ends up out in the yard throwing stones at Lori’s bedroom window.

Rating: Teen and Up
Summary:
"Whose idea was it to go hiking?" Mare asks, blowing a strand of hair from her face that's fallen from her disheveled bun. She's trailing behind Lori up the hill, feeling as though she might throw up at any moment.
"Uh, I believe it was your idea, babe." Lori tells her, reaching out a hand for her to grab. They're almost at the top.
"Well, do me a favour," She says between breaths, taking Lori's hand, "Don't listen to me next time."

or the one where everybody finds out

Rating: Teen and Up
Summary:
The weekend finds the two of them sprawled out on the sofa, mugs of tea cooling beside them, a hot water bottle each pressed to their stomachs.
"Surely, we're approaching the time when this will not be happening anymore." Mare grumbles.
"I thought I was already there a couple years back, when I skipped a few months. Doctor just put it down to stress." Lori lets out a laugh, as if the stress ever went away. Well, maybe now. At least a little.

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Rating: Mature
Summary:
Recently Mare finds herself crying a lot more than she used to. A lot more than she ever has, come to think of it. And the most bizarre thing about it is that it’s because she’s just so damn happy. She didn’t even dare to think, after everything, that she could ever be so happy. And if someone would’ve told her she would be she’d have simply told them that it’s impossible.
