An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
💐 beneath the candy-coated clouds 🍫
For the past several months, Higuchi has been stopping by the shop weekly, every Friday after she leaves work, to buy a treat for her younger sister. Margaret had seen her from afar prior to that—she’s the manager of the flower shop across the street, so they frequent many of the same places—but it wasn’t until Higuchi started stopping by Zelda Confections that Margaret actually had a real conversation with her. She would like to say she fell gracefully, but it was more like she tripped into an infatuation she didn’t have a label for until Mark saw the two of them interact, and afterwards said, Wow, you really are down bad for that girl. I thought John was exaggerating, but if anything, I think he undersold it. At which point Margaret had half a crisis, decided to push it off until after her shift, and then had a full crisis once she got home.
margaret works at a candy shop; higuchi works at the flower shop across the street. their lives intersect sweetly.
