“Really?” Lucy asks, but relief breaks over her face like a wave. “I’m glad. I’ll see you around, then?” That’s even worse, but they can’t bring themself to turn her down quite as harshly. “Okay,” Gin signs, and tells themself that it’s just because they don’t think she’ll understand anything more complicated. Lucy grins, sharp and wide and bright, and nods to them before disappearing back around the campus hallways in a flurry of tulle and patchwork skirts.

(There's a new transfer student in Gin's class. They don't feel strongly about this at all.)
