Maricelle Wong is a pop R&B singer-songwriter from Singapore whose music is evocative of plaintive, melancholy emotions. Music has remained prominent in her life since childhood; she sang opera as a child and performed in school band as a teenager. Her coming-of-age debut EP, Pursuit, was released in January 2017 and featured five tracks, including her effervescent hit single “LoveDrunk.” In an interview with MusicAsia, Maricelle posited that her lyrics are grounded in searches for individual freedom and purpose amidst "a modern world of pop culture and fluid identity, made more pronounced in Singapore with modernization and global influence on the Asian values we’ve been brought up by.” Maricelle’s music is reflective and idyllic, rooted in tangible self-exploration while floating in feelings of quiet possibility and ephemeral change.
