01:When did you first start writing?
I'm not entirely sure, but I remember clearly a short story I had to write for class for fifth grade. It involved a girl falling through a pothole in the road and winding up battling an evil witch in an alternate dimension. My mom kept cringing at the story when the girl stabbed the witch through with a sword. That's the first thing I can ever remember writing, so I'll say fifth grade.
02:What was your favorite book growing up?
The Lost Years of Merlin by T.A. Barron. His writing, to this day, is still some of my favorite.
03:Are you an avid reader?
Off and on. I go through periods of life where all I do is read, read, read, and then I go through times where I play video games more or I marathon a whole lot of Netflix. It just sort of depends on my mood.
04:Have you ever thrown a book across the room?
Those That Wake. I can't even be bothered to look up the author, because the book started SO well, but was utterly stupid by the end. Don't read it unless you want a preachy ending about how technology is ruining our lives.
05:Did you take writing courses in school/college?
Outside of a couple college English classes, no. It probably shows in my writing, too; I'm pretty clumsy with words and putting together a good scene.
06:Have you read any writing-advice books?
I read part of one several years ago with my cousin, but I don't think we ever finished it. Again, I think that shows in my writing, lol. I read more of those 'writing tips' posts that are on tumblr and such, though.
07:Have you ever been part of a critique group?
Outside of my friends, no.
08:What’s the best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten?
Write and edit later. I used to get stuck on words a lot and agonizing over how something sounds, but now it's easier for me to move past it and keep going with the flow. I'll still occasionally get stuck, but it's less often now.
09:What’s the worst piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten?
Hmm...I think in high school I was once asked, "Why would you go with such a dumb idea?" but I don't think I've ever really been given bad feedback, or anything that's really hindered me.
10:What’s your biggest writer pet-peeve?
Too much exposition. If you info-dump, I get bored and probably won't care about remembering what you're talking about. Unless it is one of the most interesting things EVER, I will probably get frustrated at your info-dump and start skimming to when things get good again.
Thanks for asking, friend :D
