웃: what my muse would leave to people in their will
A couple of things to note here:
First off, there's not going to be a lot of cold, hard cash to distribute. Aside from a reasonably responsible amount of savings, Shinji tends to spend his money once he makes it. This is partly because he's lowkey (read: highkey) a big "retail therapy" person (if you think the shoes he's wearing here aren't Gucci I literally don't know what to tell you) and partly because he's a firm believer in the whole "you can't take it with you when you go" thing. Plus, life sucks sometimes. If you can make it suck less by surrounding yourself with stuff that you like, more power to you.
Second off, while Shinji has a hefty record collection, and it might seem obvious to suggest that he'd leave meaningful albums to meaningful people, he's not prescriptive like that. He doesn't want to make assumptions about other people's tastes, no matter what he himself vibes with. He might set one or two albums aside for special folks if he's feeling extra sentimental, but I don't really foresee it. He's more likely to ask @playkinshara to dole them out if/as he sees fit, and then ask his friends to sell the rest of his clutch, bona fide vintage finds and make a quick, hefty buck.
So, honestly? His preference would be to leave a short, little note for the folks who survive him that reads something like:
Take whatever you want, but don't fight over stuff. Be fuckin civil about it, k? Pawn the rest of it and haggle like hell. Or hold a yard sale idc lol
☤: the last time my muse went to the hospital and why
Shinji avoided the hospital like the plague during exile, for what he figured were obvious reasons - between leaving a record of his presence places and the fact that his body has all kinds of wonky stuff going on (whether he's in a gigai or not, he figures), it just seemed like a dumb thing to do. Plus, he's pretty hearty, and he's dexterous, and he's careful. He doesn't hurt himself or get sick very often, fortunately.
When he does hurt himself these days, though, he's actually pretty prudent about it. If he were to slip on some ice and fall on his ass, say, he'd actually bop over to the Fourth real quick to make sure that nothing was sprained or broken. He's proactive that way; a stitch in time saves nine, kinda mentality.
It's not a particularly exciting answer, but the last time Shinji went to the hospital was, statistically, pretty mundane. Turned his wrist funny while conducting routine drills, or wanted to double check that the shallow score across his arm from small-fry hollow claws was healing right.
He lives on the edge aesthetically, and he gets a kick out of exuding subversive vibes, but at his core? He's a careful motherfucker.
♠: the riskiest thing my muse has ever done
Other than taking on @chimaericrealities as a lieutenant??
Lol, I kid, kind of, because when Shinji takes risks, they're usually big ones, but they're usually the product of a long, long time spent thinking through pros and cons.
So, yeah, taking on the Most Suspicious Person In The Entire Gotei as his lieutenant is definitely, actually up there. Fast-tracking @black--sun's hollowfication training in the secret underground arena - and heck, even revealing the location of the warehouse to Ichigo in the first place, for that matter - also comes to mind, and that was dangerous, but it paid off.
We don't really see him take many risks in canon, either during the Fake Karakura Town battle or, frankly, throughout the whole of the Thousand Year Blood War arc. When shit hits the fan, Shinji is a strategist, and he acts withing the bounds of his (admittedly formidable) capabilities.
In conclusion, I guess I'm actually, fully not kidding at all when I say that the Aizen choice was was the riskiest one Shinji has ever made - because it's the only highly significant choice in Shinji's history that didn't pay off the way Shinji thought it would.
..................that said, I'm not mad, because it means we get shit like this:
Shinji has different feelings about it, obviously, but I'll gladly tip my hat to Aizen for directly fueling some of the most badass moments from my boy <3
Like for Starter with Nemuri Hachigo
@marigoldmelancholy
Nemuri couldn’t lie, she was curious about Kira Izuru. She knew loosely the man was at least acquaintances with her big sister Nemu, but she can’t remember if she’d ever met him before directly. Which is why the young girl was wondering around looking for him now. She’s sure with enough determination and luck that she’d make her way to him!
(starter for @marigoldmelancholy )
“The product is ready for trial. And by trial, of course, I mean in need of a test subject. But at least this one should not be too harmful.”
“This formula should allow you to stay awake for up to 96 hours without feeling any ill side-effects of sleep deprivation. You should retain your cognition and motor ability as though you were only mildly exhausted and memory loss should only reach ‘moderate’ levels during the timeframe. It is recommended that once the timeframe is up, however, you find a safe place to rest for the next 22 hours minimum.
“Now all we need is your signature on a few pieces of paper, all very basic documentation. Waiver of liability, non-disclosure agreement, some fine print about your belongings being property of the 12th division in the event of any unforeseen fatality, agreement of additional surveillance measures that may or may not be integrated within the solution itself, and of course HIPPA acknowledgement that we at the SRDI will not share any of your medical information with the 4th division. Seriously, if something goes wrong, don’t go there. They won’t know what to do.”
Dragon, Fire & Psychic!
Dragon: if they were a magical creature, what would they be?
I ended up settling on a Kappa for Tessai. I was drawn to this idea because when I looked up information on Kappa, one of the first things that came up was that their favorite food was cucumbers and well
I know pickles aren’t cucumbers, but they are made from cucumbers. And Kappa’s have other characteristics that are also applicable. They’re strong, intelligent, extremely loyal to those that have helped them in the past, and are known to have medical expertise.
Fire: how do they react to anger? Answered
Psychic: what’s one of their recurring thoughts?
Tessai doesn't think about them too often, but every now and then he remembers his parents and thinks about how they would react to his life choices if they were still alive. He knows that becoming Kido Corps Commander would have exceeded their expectations, and he assumes that perfecting the Kidō they died trying to create would make them proud. However, he always comes back to the fact that he’s sure they would have declared him an imposter to the Tsukabishi name. Even if they forgave him for deciding to help Kisuke and the others during the hollowfication incident, they would despise him even more for remaining in the world of the living after his name was cleared. He’s long since accepted that his parent's worldview view was flawed, and he doesn’t regret his life choices, but he does regret that he can’t conjure any memories of his parents without feeling melancholy.
@marigoldmelancholy 😞 How do they keep up their energy?
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ASKS
"Keep up my energy? Dunno what you mean, I do what everyone does. Eat.”
[ Grimmjow is not nearly as high energy as he presents himself in front of others. I do try to make this obvious in how I write his internal monologue, but he’s an introvert at heart. He wants to keep to himself in a safe, secure, and predictable bubble. I think this really only becomes obvious when looking at his expressions on the whole. Everyone remembers him for his bloodthirsty grins when he’s in combat, and that seems to inform the vast majority of peoples opinions about him (in world an in meta) but the reality of the situation is that he’s not existing in a combat scenario at all times, and the fascade and appearance he needs in those moments is not the same as what he needs the majority of the time.
The loud brash personality he displays in combat is intended for 2 reasons: 1) to distract 2) to make his opponent underestimate him. His loud, aggressive, bloodlust (while not entirely faked) is put on to lure his opponent into a false sense of security. These scenes are high energy and high adrenaline. I don’t know if I can say for certain that this energy comes from anywhere in particular other than Grimmjow’s intense desire for survival and victory. There is no alternative.
While he certainly wanders the line between self-destructive and suicidal, he never fully crosses over to the later. Death is not an option. He uses everything in his arsenal, including his abrasive personality and a copious amount of smack talk. Can’t stop, won’t stop, don’t know how to stop is his ethos.
When he’s not in combat, you’ll notice that he’s generally much calmer and quieter. Unless he’s deliberately trying to provoke. He’s low energy. Conservative. Beside the fact that this is generally representative of his feline nature (high energy bursts of exertion followed by periods of rest and recouperation). He’s much more introverted and mellow. Dangerous, yes, bc he is prone to lashing out at the slightest provocation. That danger comes from the fact that he doesn’t need to be wound up first. He’s capable of violence even at rest.
I feel like I’ve waffled a lot without actually answering the question lmao. I’m trying to express that his energy comes in waves. He doesn’t actively do anything to keep it up. He’s either in fight mode or in recover mode, depending on what is needed. Even if his energy isn’t actually high, he can project that for a looooooong time until he reaches actual physical exhaustion, and he’ll still be glaring and snarling then.
Ways that he recovers his energy does include eating – it’s a very quick reward. “Personal care” such as grooming and napping also do wonders for him. Even certain amounts of socializing are really good for him (preferably the kind where he and whoever he is socializing with are both just sitting quietly and minding their business near each other). ]
Doing, Psst, and Want >:)
... Getting a bit greedy with three... lol
Several people asked for some of these, so I’ll include everyone who asked and all of them below the cut!
Psst ((I couldn't help myself))
@marigoldmelancholy
Psst: Three things that they’ve always wanted to tell your character.
“This seems a bit dramatic, doesn’t it? If I wished to tell you something, I would have told you. However, I suppose if pressed for answers...”
1) “Your sword ability is most fascinating, and I have a very strong desire to test the uppermost limits of its capabilities. Moreover I want to know the extent of it’s zone of control. How large of an object can be effected, for how long, etc. The possibility of it working on reishi-based living beings also brings up fascinating questions that, perhaps, you wish to discuss before any findings be made public to the Central 46.”
2) “You should feel no guilt for being unaware of the treachery of your captain. The Gotei-13 is designed with paramilitary structure based on trust, and a lack of oversight or even apparent interest from certain governing bodies is what allowed such an event to take place. It was their job to recognize something wrong, not yours. So the blame does not lie with you.”
3) “You are very attractive, and though the position of your hair seems intended to hide your facial features I think you may find many see that as endearing or mysterious rather than you being able to hide. Your body is also very well-proportioned, and would be a delight to perform a post-mortem inspection and autopsy on someday. Perhaps even used as a model for future students.
“... perhaps that last bit should have remained unsaid.”
