"Love" how Maripologists still tried to claim that Marinette had no choice but to tell Adrien and the world that his ABUSER died a hero.
I mean pretending for a second that she didn't have a choice even though she did or that she didn't have other options she had several but to keep Adrien in the dark about Gabriel being Hawkmoth, she could have literally used any other possible way to explain Gabriel's death without turing that abusive piece of shit into a saint.
Genuinely "love" how Maripologists desperately makeup things in order to downplay Marinette's actions.
Especially with how it does not take that much effort to instantly destroy all of their arguments.
Werepapas aka the episode Marinette unnecessarily risk permanently killing Adrien
Maripologists LOOVVVE to pretend Marinette had no choice in the matter, how she did "everything" to convince Ringmaster to willingly break free and how she knew Adrien would be ok... Despite the fact that Marinette barely tried to talk akuma down in comparison to literally any other akuma in the series. How she ignored her resources, aka Felix and Rose, who could have been immensely helpful here!
Felix: Not only is he the current leading expert on sentimonsters thanks to his kwami being the literal thing that creates them but Marinette literally has him on speed dial! We've seen throughout the series that the miraculous possess a communication feature both text and verbal, meaning they could have literally had Marinette signal him with her miraculous and then text/call him on what to do!
Rose: the girl who's power is literally the perfect tool in a hostage situation... do I need to say more?
Also to say Marinette knew Adrien would have been okay if she broke his amok is a massive lie, the scene had her immediately hesitate before bringing her yoyo down on it, meanwhile, the aftermatch had her show genuine relief that Adrien was ok. Making it perfectly clear that she, in that moment had no idea that would have worked!
Marinette breaking Sublime's prosthetics.
Maripologists constantly attempt to downplay Marinette's role here either by trying to claim nonexistent factors or by giving an outlandish claim to downplay her actions..... Despite the fact that the show itself has made it bluntly clear that this was entirely Marinette's fault! If she didn't soap up the entire floor and then proceeding too jump directly in front of Sublime as Ladybug while she was in the midst of running, none of this would ever happened!
"Oh but Marinette didn't mean to break her legs, it was an honest mistake! that makes it ok!" Newsflash, just because you don't means for something to happen doesn't mean it's okay or that the person you wrong is supposed to forgive you, especially when your actions direct affect them!
Sublime not only got hurt but literally lost her sponsor because of Marinette! Something she was working hard for! And before one of you says; "Oh b-but Bob Roth w-was a horrible person anyways! And she got a new sponsor so it doesn't matter!" Need I point out the fact that her getting a new sponsor almost instantly was incredibly lucky and that said sponsor was TOMOE TSURUGI who is so much worse then the greedy bastard that is Roth. Oh and Sublime getting a new sponsor still doesn't excuse Marinette here!
Though that said, can I say I'm actually thankful the writers decided to make Sublime forgive Marinette despite having every right to either never want to talk to her again or justifiably sue her? Cause I know for a fact that Maripologists would absolutely be salting Sublime to hell and back like they do with every character that doesn't automatically blindly support Marinette for her atrocious behavior or instantly forgive her.
Marinette's stealing
While somewhat uncommon I have occasionally seen Maripologists try to excuse or justify Marinette's stealing and by either claiming "She returned it, so that means it's ok!' Or by blaming it on the akuma of the day... which last I checked CopyCat didn't hold Marinette at gun point to break into Adrien's locker and steal his phone. Also just because she returns what she stole doesn't magically erase the fact that she stole it in the first place.
Marinette's stalking behavior
Maripologists love to deny the fact that she is absolutely a stalker and will use the utter retcon that is Derision as an excuse for it, despite the fact that Chat Blanc and the shanghai special exits and that the former is an example of behavior that retcon doesn't cover.
Chat Blanc: the episode where Marinette the moment she was alone in Adrien's room instantly starts touching all of his belongings and even going as far as to sniff what she believed to be his pillow, it was Plagg's but point still stands as she didn't and couldn't have known that. Literally none of this was behavior excused in the slightest by Derision or even undone by the rest of the episode. Now, to be fair, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they forgot the fact that Marinette did all of this, I sure as hell try to due to how flat out creepy this was.
Shanghai: the special where Marinette lied without any shred of guilt to her parents in order to stalk Adrien to another country, and I specify without guilt here due to the fact that she showed zero shame for her actions even after they told her how they've been saving money since she was born for her to go shanghai in order to connect with her roots.
"Love" how Maripologists try to claim that Derision totally wasn't a retcon and how the episode wasn't designed to excuse Marinette of her stalking....
....When the episode literally word for word has Marinette excuse herself of all accountability by blaming Chloe.
Marinette: Adrien! I know what's wrong with me! It's not my fault, and it's not your fault, either! It's all Chloe's fault!
I mean seriously? Like the apologist could maybe just maybe had a leg to stand on had Marinette took ANY accountability for her past actions (especially the ones aren't excused away by the episode, such as Chat Blanc which has Marinette touching all of adrien's possessions and sniffing what she believed to be his pillow.) Or hell have Marinette actually attempt on stopping this behavior.
but no, instead the writers not only have Marinette continue stalking people even into season six but have Marinette blame all of her problematic behavior towards Adrien soley on Chloe, which magically means it's okay for her to do this. Which incredibly ironic btw given how desperately they were within the very same episode tried to claimed Chloe's trauma doesn't excuse her actions.
Rose: Don’t be mad at her. She's this way because her mother left her when she was young.
Mylène: So did mine! And you don't see me having fun bullying Marinette.
The hypocrisy speaks for itself! Then you have the Maripologists desperately bending over backwards trying to deny that it's a retcon when it's bluntly so.
While there's thousands of things within this episode that it makes it clear that this was a retcon, a few noble examples that speak for themselves include;
The writers, including the show's creator, going on record repeatedly trying to convince us that Marinette's behavior was merely a "joke" for the last five seasons, hell this has even continue to be protrade as such into even season six with Sublimation literally having all of Marinette's stalker behavior once again be treated as a "joke"
How Marinette display none of this behavior towards Luka EVEN WHEN SHE WAS DATING HIM. Despite how she claimed within this accursed episode that from that point on, she would do this to every boy that she wanted to date.
How she didn't experience any trouble after falling into the very same pool with Adrien the season prior.
Beyond those three, one of the more notable and downright ironically hilarious points towards this episode being nothing but a retcon comes from Sole Crusher of all episodes.
For those that may need a reminder Chloe during this episode, tried to come up with a plan to prank Marinette as a sister bonding activity with Zoe. During this scene Chloe briefly suggests putting gum on Marinette's seat only to immediately dismiss it as she already did it, resulting in her trying to figure out a plan, she hasn't done yet. Eventually leading her to come up with the idea of placing roaches in Marinette's locker while acting like this was a brand new idea...
Chloe: So, how about 'stick a wad of chewing gum on her chair'? No, done that. Oh! 'Get her punished for something she didn't do'! Too easy. (gasps) Roaches! Roaches in her locker! Yes! How amazing am I?
....Even though Dersion has Chloe do exactly that to Marinette, thus further, making it clear that this is a retcon.
There's also Socqueline's debut episode, but there's so much in that episode alone that proves Derision was a poorly done retcon that it could warrant its own post. So instead I will bring up the blunt lie that Maripologists love making up which is how Chloe in Dersion was totally just as bad in season one... even though she absolutely wasn't.
Don't get me wrong, Chloe was a bully in season one. But she wasn't pouring paint on people, putting roaches into their lockers, orchestrating traumatizing pranks to post online, or preventing others from being friends with Marinette, hell she didn't even target the same person daily.
Season one chloe was at worst, a opportunist who only did/say anything when it fell into her lap(Evillustrator, Horrificator, Dark Cupid, Princess Fragrance), to get what she wanted (Reflekta) or in retaliation for someone else doing something towards her(Lady Wifi). Genuinely speaking, the absolute worst things S1 Chloe did was;
sabotage Marinette's uncle's soup.
getting Alya suspended for a couple of weeks.
And I should note that the latter only happened due to Chloe getting pissed off that Alya wasn't going to get in trouble for secretly taking photos of the inside of her locker.
Hell, none of that is even mentioning the how the class acted around chloe in Origins is nowhere even remotely close to how they acted towards her in Derision, ESPECIALLY with Marinette. Derision had them running for the hills every time Chloe showed up, meanwhile all of season one including Origins, Marinette and co treated Chloe like an occasional nuisance they had to put up with time to time instead of a serious threat.
