"again?" mark asked as he had been passing through the er and noticed the other sitting on a hospital bed. "jesus kid, you liked getting your shit rocked or something?" he knows the kid often ends up there after sports injuries. he's done enough work on him himself to minimize the amount of scarring he experiences. "surprised they didn't call me down, have you been seen yet?"

it pained mark, seeing lexie here but her not knowing who he was. like it was some kind of insane cosmic karma that they are here yet again in the same place but not able to be together. he took every chance he could get at work now to try and find himself in her presence. "you know if you need help studying or with a surgical technique, you can ask me." he says one day walking into the skills lab. relieved that they seemed to be the only two in the room.

"alright, so lay it on me, kid." mark didn't know how much he'd consider himself a good influence but in the rare moments that he was being genuine instead of joking around he felt he could help the younger man. plus he knew what it was like dying and coming back, definitely a weird thing to bond over but if the kid wanted his help he wasn't going to deny it. "what's going on?"

"you know you don't have to call me for a consult just to chat, dr. king." mark said to announce himself approaching the other at the nurses station. he leans on the counter and nods his head in a welcome to the other nurses and doctors around them. "you don't have to be embarrassed to have friends, i'm a great friend." now he was mostly teasing, poking fun.
