More Thoughts on the Delavan/Paige show so I don’t end up making a million posts
Mrs. Lovett is so tiny compared to Sweeney in this. She was basically the same height as him when he was sitting down in the chair
In Pretty Women when the judge started his “bum bum bum bum” Sweeney gave him the weirdest look and then he just started bobbing his head like “catchy” and whistling along, it was so funny
Going back to the opera thing, regardless of whether or nor you enjoy the style of singing, it’s nice to not have to worry about Beadle Bamford being able to hit his notes for once
The Beggar Woman has an amazing laugh
There was a funny part in Johanna Quartet where this one guy took his hat off and set it on the counter, and then after Sweeney killed him he casually tossed it down after him (did I miss that in the Hearn/Lansbury recording??? I do remember a guy sitting with a hat on his lap)
WHY DON’T ANTHONY AND THE BEADLE RECOGNIZE EACH OTHER?! IF I SAW A GUY SNAP A BIRD’S NECK I WOULD REMEMBER HIM
When Anthony went to go bang on the asylum door again, Beadle Bamford called the police on him and then Anthony kinda saw them and just started RUNNING and then the police were running after him and then Beadle Bamford started running and screaming after THEM and it was just really funny
Certainly a different-sounding Toby but I can get behind it
Is Lucy’s hair GRAY? That’s a new one
What if Sweeney, when about to shave Judge Turpin, accidentally grabbed the bloody razor that he’d just killed Lucy with and Judge Turpin noticed. Or, conversely, what if he’d noticed the bloody razor after he’d killed PIRELLI during Pretty Women
I legit think that they have a screen with the lyrics on it above the stage. Is that common in opera houses?
Whoever sang that last “SWEEEEEEENNEEEEEYYY” in the final Ballad has an aMAZING VOICE GOSH
That is the first time I have ever seen Toby come out just before Sweeney during a curtain call. And Mrs. Lovett comes out after Sweeney again so maybe it’s a usual thing?? Maybe Angela Lansbury set a trend?
That was highly entertaining, I recommend to all
