More than Words } Meth
She knew he'd have a hangover so she didn't say a word as he dragged himself off her couch and stumbled into the kitchen. She doesn't say a word as she hands him his coffe which she made just the way he likes it; to strong for her. This moring wasn't about her though so it didn't matter in the slightest. She slid two pills along the counter and she knew he wouldn't have to be told to take them once he was done with his coffee. She moved away and pulled a glass from the cabinet and ran water in it, setting it beside the pills before turning.
She was tired. He had come in at two in the morning, hanging on her uncles and completely drunk; happy in a way only strong liquor could manage. It had taken a little bit of work, but she had gotten him to sleep, curled up on his stomach on the pale lavender couch. She should've gone to bed hersel but she'd stayed, sitting propped up against the couch just in case he needed a trash can, a wash cloth, anything at all. It was catching up with her and she needed a second or two to relax.
The coffee mug scaped the edge of the counter and he caught her by the elbow. She didn't protest as he pulled her against his chest. She wrapped her arms around his strong frame and let her fingers creep steadily up his spine. He was taller than her and the height difference was just right. She could rest her head against his chest and hear his heartbeat. Normally, she loved it. It was a reminder to her that he was real and there; a comfort, but today she was distracted. She could tell he remembered what had happened last night by the way he held her; his fingers digging into her hips a little bit more than normal, his arms stiff as if there was something in the kitchen to be scared of. She knew he remembered and she knew there was nothing she could say to make it any better.
She stood on her tiptoes and pressed herself firmly against him, letting her mouth rest against his shoulder. There was nothing to say, at least nothing that would help so she siimply stayed there against him until she felt like she was about to vibrate to pieces. She pulled back to look at him. He looked tired and she could tell that he wasn't feeling all that great. shecould joke and opened her mouth to take a small jab at him, but nothing came out. She squeezed at his arms and was finally able to speak. "I want to finish your coffee... and to take the tylenol, and to drink that entire glass of water." It came out as a quiet demand before she thought to correct herself. "It'll make you feel better" She rubbed his upper arms and smiled slightly.
I love you.
"Okay, bossy." He laughed slightly and brushed a strand of hair out of her face, bending down to capture her lips in a quick kiss, wincing as his head pounded harder at the sudden downward movement.
I love you too.
"And you can use the shower too, if you want..." she added as an after thought. "I would actually highly suggest it." She wrinkled her nose as if he desperately needed to clean up when, in fact, it was a look of amusement. "There's some of your sweatpants in the bottom dresser drawer."
He tickled her side and she bit back a squeal of laughter, swatting at his hand. "Come on now. You won't get to feeling any better unless you do what I said!" He sighed in heavy exaggeration before picking up his coffee cup and draining what was left of the dark liquid.
She watched him for a long moment as he took the medicine and sipped on the water. He turned and arched a brow at her and she mimicked him, a smile working at the corners of her mouth. She could tell he wanted to retort but he doesn't. He just brushes his hair out of his face and moves out of the kitchen towards the stairs. She drops her gaze to the tiled floor and wraps her arms around herself. She would've loved to take a nap but there would be time for that later.
"I'll have breakfast waiting for you."
I love you.
