Bringing Back Finn [Mark & Peter]
Mark walked into the lost boy camp as he tried to comprehend everything that had just happened. He wasn't surprised Nibs had killed Finn, but Finn was Mark's best friend. Sure he fucked up in a major way, but death was a little extreme. Pausing he thought about how he was going to go about asking Peter to do this, he didn't even know if the leader could or what that would entail and what price he would have to pay. And he didn't want Peter to think that the siren was interested in him strictly for things like this. Mark sighed softly before heading to Peter's tent. "Hey Peter you home? I really need to talk to you about something."
Peter heard someone saying his name and he instantly sat up from his bed and walked out in time to greet Mark. “Yes, I am here, what is it that you need to talk about?” He asks curiously, knowing that most of the time people never really came to him to talk about anything unless they wanted something from him.
“What you're not happy to see me?” Mark asked in a teasing tone as he looked at Peter. “It’s really serious. It would be best if I came in and talked to you about it, I don't really need anyone else to know about it.” He answered.
Peter could only offer a small smile back at Mark’s words. “Of course I am happy to see you. Why wouldn’t I be? Mhm of course, be my guest.” He responds while opening up the door so that Mark could step inside.
Mark smiled at Peter's words and kissed his cheek before moving inside the room. He looked around before settling in a chair and waited for Peter. He didn't know if the leader had already seen what had happened or not, the siren was still confused on how all that worked, but he planned on just being honest with the other as to why he was here.
The leader had a hunch as to what Mark was doing at his tent. He had felt when Finn was killed and he knew how close the two were and that it was only a matter of time before someone came by and asked him if he was able to do something about it. However, the leader didn’t want to jump to conclusions and allowed Mark to speak his mind.
Taking a seat on his bed, he gestured for Mark to tell him what it is that he wanted to talk about. “So, what brings you to my tent? Other than finding an excuse to come and see me?” He teases lightly.
“Well I know you told me you know about everything that goes on the island, but I’m not sure if you're aware of the fact that Finn was cheating on Misty and in all being a horrible person. I don't know what got into him, but he's done some things that are pretty unforgivable. Anyway, when Nibs found out he wasn't too thrilled as I wasn't, but Nibs’ anger was something that, while rightfully earned, sort of got the best of him and he ended up killing Finn.” He stated.
“And this may be a lot to ask of you, but I have to try because he’s my friend and he has a child on its way with Maya and the baby didn't do anything to deserve not having a father. So I was wondering...I wanted to know...if maybe you could bring him back somehow?”
As he listened to Mark, Peter nodded his head. “I do know about all that happened and yes I do know that Nibs has quite the temper.” He reassures the other before standing up, walking a bit as he was starting to think.
“You do know that there would be a price to pay for bringing someone back correct? People aren’t the same when they come back from the other side after they die. I can’t bring him back as a human due to how badly mulled he probably was during that altercation. But maybe I can bring him back as something that can self heal.” He suggests while looking to Mark to see what the other would say.
Mark nodded his head in understanding. “That’s fine, I just don’t think it’s fair. I’m not saying that what he did to Misty was at all appropriate but he is a good person that just got caught up in something.”
“I figured, maybe you could bring him back as a shifter or a siren. I know we are self healing, and I don’t know a bigger price than that. Either he comes back as a shifter and has to rely on Nibs or he comes back as a siren and has to rely on Misty. I’m also willing to pay the price if need be. I kinda just stood there when Nibs went all overprotective which in my mind makes no sense because I get it, Misty is like a sister to him, but there is a thing called taking it too far.”
“Yeah I don’t think you know Nibs as I do. He doesn't really get that overprotective over anyone else on this island. I always thought him and Misty were more than just friends you know? But then again, maybe that's just their friendship and the way they show it. I know his reasons for being overprotective of her but that is something you would have to talk to him about.” Peter thinks about what the price would be and comes to a conclusion.
“Part of the price is that he will come back as a level e siren. As far as we know, there is no cure for sirens who are e’s besides killing the pureblood that bit them. Since no one bit Finn, he will be unstable forever or at least until a cure is found which will be when the second price must be paid.”
Mark couldn’t help but laugh at what Peter was insinuating. “Yeah no, they are just friends. They keep telling everyone that they are so happy they’re friends and that they only see each other as brother and sister. Like if they for some reason they did kiss it would be because of some pent of emotions and they probably would pretend it never happened and not talk to each other after for a while.”
“That doesn’t sound too bad. We’re still looking into it, so I’m sure we can give him that if comes back.” He replied before looking at the other. “What’s the second price?”
“That is true, I suppose that could happen. The most unlikely things happen on this island, I could have sworn up and down I would never find myself interested in a certain siren, yet here we are.” Peter teases the other before he looked out into the distance, not wanting to see the look of disappointment on Mark’s face when he told the other the price.
“Someone has to die after a certain amount of time of him being brought back to life to make up for the fact that I broke the balance of life and death on the island..for bending the rules per say. A life for a life so to speak.” He responds knowing that is not something that Mark would have liked to hear.
The siren smiled at Peter’s words. “I guess you’re right, anything could happen on this island.” He replied before seeing the leader look away from him. He listened to the what the other price was and Mark could admit he wasn’t too thrilled to think about who would die just get Finn back. “I don’t know Peter...I don’t think I can do that. It goes against what I stand for. I protect people not sign them up to die just because one of my best friends died. Maybe we should just forget the whole thing.”
“As much as I agree with you, I am not the one that comes up with the prices. I am simply in charge of keeping the balance on this island. Magic is already messy to deal with when people’s death isn't involved...I can always look into it but that is the best I have for you right now. It doesn't have to be a human death. I think if you sacrifice a few animals it would equal the same for a human soul. It's hard to explain…”
“Are you sure that will work? I could kill a few animals but I’m sure if it was that easy a lot of people would ask you to bring someone back right?” He asked. “I want Finn back but not if that means murder, that is just pointless.”
“I mean I have never tried it before but I suppose that it would be worth a shot. I just can’t guarantee anything you know since it is a rather difficult process and all. I think people would be asking me a lot more if it had been that simple..how about you show me where the body is and I will see what I can do.” Peter responds while turning to face the other.
“It’s outside.” Mark stated standing up. “I couldn’t leave it on the beach because someone would have eaten him so I had to bring it with me and I didn’t think my boyfriend wanted to see me carrying a dead body into his room.”
“Okay then, let’s go take a look.” Peter takes the lead while stepping out of the tent to see where Mark left the body. Seeing the body, he frowned, “That is quite the mutilation if I do say so myself. I don’t know if you want to look away or not when I rip his heart out but I will leave that up to you.”
“I’m sorry...I wish I could have calmed Nibs down but he had his mind set. Can’t say I blame him though, I know lost girls aren’t necessarily your concern but if Finn kept hitting her the way he did this would have been Misty.” Hearing his words Mark just nodded, “Go ahead. Nothing I haven’t seen before.”
Hearing Mark’s words, Peter stopped for a second. “He was what? Finn was hitting someone? For what purpose?” He asks while his eyebrows knitted together. “I might not like the lost girls but hitting them is a bit extreme don’t you think? And I know Misty wouldn’t hurt a fly, that is just really cowardly of Finn to do such a thing...I thought I taught my boys better than that.”
Mark thought about how he was going to respond seeing as he couldn’t really defend his friend, but knew in a sense what Finn had been feeling. “It’s not right, but I’m sure it was hard for him. Misty is very close with a lot of guys and when you see someone you care about be closer to someone else you can get jealous. Then when you let it linger it turns to anger, I mean I’ve seen it happen in all of my friends relationships. Noah and Cameron, Zero and Noah.”
“You just said yourself that Nibs was overprotective of Misty for a reason, Finn was her boyfriend. He had to watch that, he had to watch his girlfriend fall out of love with him. The way he handled was incredibly wrong but when sirens are mad we eat people whole...so we’re not too much different. You taught him right, it’s just love that makes you do some dumb shit.”
“Okay but you can let your anger out in other ways and just because you think one thing, unless it is proven to be true there is no reason to be doing something like that. She probably fell out of love because he kept hitting her. Telling someone how to live their life can only drive them away.” Peter lets out a sigh before reaching down and pulling out Finn’s heart.
“Maybe I should have one of the boys study how to teach the rest on proper anger management so that this kind of thing doesn’t happen again. People need to take into consideration their actions before they act on it, magic is not an easy price for someone to pay over losing control of their emotions. Some need to realize that magic won’t fix things and in some cases can even make it worse…” He turns to Mark, “Are you sure you want me to bring Finn back? He might not be the same person, he could be more violent or the complete opposite. It all depends.”
Mark just shook his head. “I haven’t known Misty for very long but I have a very strong feeling she didn’t fall out of love for that reason. She didn’t want to, me and Noah begged her to when we saw them fight the first time.” Looking at Peter he nodded. “Yes, I think the moment he sees his children he will change. I’ve heard that kids can change a person completely.”
“Interesting…” Peter turns his attention back to the heart before blowing some air onto it, causing it to fill with color. “I sure hope that for his sake and your sake that that is correct. Some people can’t handle the pressures of being a parent.”
Once it started to beat, Peter pulled a vile out from his pocket and let the substance drip onto Finn’s heart before he pushed it back into the boy. In a matter of seconds, Finn was starting to heal up and turn back to normal. “There, all fixed.”
“That’s it? What happened to someone has to die for this to work?” He asked before having a strange feeling wash over him. “Who is dead?”
“An unborn child has just been killed.” He responds while closing his eyes and seeing a wolf attacking Misty. “Ashton attacked Misty. She just lost her and Finn’s child.” Peter speaks only soft enough for Mark to hear him.
“Wait...that’s not possible Misty isn’t even pregnant. She can’t lose something she doesn’t have and if Ashton is attacking her I have to find her because she can’t heal from that.” Mark replied confused.
“Well, she is...or was, I guess she never knew about it.” Peter closes his eyes once more and puts his hand on Mark’s arm. “Stay here with Finn, she will be fine. She can heal and Nibs will help her through it, I can sense this.” He responds as he channels the feeling of the island through his body.
Mark was having a hard time keeping up with everything Peter was telling him as he was still stuck on the fact that Misty had been attacked and lost a child. “How can she heal? Shifter bites are deadly, there is no cure for them.” He watches Peter.
“Her power is the ability to heal herself and level e’s. Her body holds the cure in her blood.Didn’t you know that? I mean it’s just like how I know that your power is fire. I feel everything on this island Mark.” Peter explains.
“No I didn’t know that.” Mark said trying to figure out what that would mean for everyone. “She can’t know. About Finn, how he was brought back. It’s best she not know.”
“Well I for one won’t tell her if you don’t want me to. I am sure she will put it together on her own at some point. I think it is a pretty well known fact by this point that in order to give life, someone must take a life. That is always the price with this type of magic.”
“She won’t. I’ll make sure of it.” He said looking at Finn’s body. “This asshole took to much from her already, I’m not going to let her find out that by bringing him back it took something else away.”
“Some things cannot be hidden forever Mark. The past always comes up somehow whether you like it or not.” He responds while watching as Finn started to come to.
“Well when she’s stable enough to hear that information I’ll tell her but until then all she knows is that Ashton bit her causing her to lose her child.” He said before looking at Peter. “I need to take him to Maya so I’ll be back after I do that.”
“Okay good luck with that. I'll be around if you need me.” Peter responds before disappearing and allowing Mark to do what he needed to.
