Hello, hope you week is going well. How does INaturalist work? Can i just upload pic or do i have to attempt IDing things? I love using INat to fing out stuff but want to start an account to mark local plants animals and such but worry of.. idk, getting banned for too much clutter or something(i know thats rather irrational but boy it is there) is there something to help show what using INat is like?
You can definitely just upload as many of your own pics as you want and either suggest an ID for them yourself or let other people ID them. There's no harm in suggesting IDs for your own photos, even if they're wrong. Other people can come along and suggest a different ID. If enough people suggest the same ID, it's considered a research grade photo. Otherwise it just remains with an "ID needed" tag on it. Obviously the clearer the photos, the easier they'll be to ID. Multiple angles on the same plant or animal also help get accurate IDs.
It would be bad form, I think, to suggest IDs on a lot of other people's photos if you don't know what you're doing. As far as I know nothing like that will get you banned, but it does make more work for other people to correct it. But you don't need to be an expert by any means to use iNat!
