Jeremy Hindle, production/set designer, Variety interview, February 2025
"There’s red only a few times [in the show], whenever there’s a bit of real love."

"Love leaks into Mark's world more in season two, where several scenes he shares with Helena Eagan are set aglow in red"
"This season, everything’s blue. The only time we see red — I had to really fight for it, red is only when it’s love. It really is that simple. In the Chinese restaurant, is it love? He’s in love. In the tent, there’s just tiniest bits of [red]. When there’s real love, there can be color now. Or if it’s blood, it’s the same, that lifeline."

For innies at Lumon, Hindle explains there’s nearly “no red in their life down there. They’re always in the green-and-blue world. They don’t know love yet. They don’t know the reds, they don’t know the oranges.” Love leaks into Mark’s world more in season two, where several scenes he shares with Helena Eagan are set aglow in red.
