I wish they would shut their goddamn mouths. 😡 TONY STARK DID NOT HAVE TO FUCKING DIE!
I’ve just read this from Markus McFeely and it really pissed me off.
“We’ve been with Steve Rogers since his first movie and to see him finally get some measure of peace … I mean, as upright and upstanding a character and as relatively positive as he is, he’s had nothing but sacrifice. He has put himself aside at every turn. And to feel that satisfaction of him finally going back and getting with Peggy and experiencing that makes me very happy.”
He’s basically admitted the ending of Endgame was made just so that they could fanboy over it later. I love Steve, but will forever maintain that this ending was ooc for him, and that if anyone deserved that ending, it was Tony.
‘he’s an upright and upstanding character’. Tony has:
dropped making weapons the moment he learnt how they were being used
been a philanthropist
stood up to terrorists (the Mandarin) when everyone else was too scared to
went to a random village in a random country (Gulmira) to save it from terrorists just because he could
worked with the legit United Nations
revolutionised renewable energy
funded scientific research of how knows how many broke MIT students
worked with the FBI to stop Bad Guys using alien guns
mentored a 15 year old jackass to make sure that he would do good as a superhero and stay safe doing it
(as evidenced by his appearance at the Funeral) mentored Harley - a random kid he met in a random town on a random occasion just because the kid was living a pretty shit life
saved god knows how many lives as Iron Man
‘he’s had nothing but sacrifice’ and ‘He has put himself aside at every turn.. Hold my beer. Tony has:
almost love the love of his life when saving the world from the Mandarin
lost his home when saving the world from Mandarin (he’s loaded - but a home is a home, not just a house)
lost Jarvis to Ulton when trying to protect the world from Thanos
lost his adoptive father (Obie) when he became Iron Man
almost lost his best friend when Rhodey fell
almost died trying to save New York
completely lost any semblance of mental health he ever had because he saved New York
lost the comfort and safety of being an ordinary, boring human when he decided to be a superhero and help people
lost most of his friends when they turned on his for doing what was (with the benefit of hindsight now) clearly the right thing for the world
again scarified his comfort and safety when he stood up to Ross to protect his friends
literally launched himself into space - faced his greatest nightmare - to help save the planet from Thanos
single-handedly fought what was arguably the most powerful being in the universe to save everyone when he could have just hidden away
further sacrificed his comfort and safety when he agreed to help the Avengers with the Time Heist
literally died to save the fucking universe fuck you marvel thanks goodbye
I don’t care about Steve’s ending that much at this point - I’ve resorted to just being happy for him because I like him. But don’t you ever try to tell me he was more deserving of a happy ending than Tony.
“If you are a fan and you’re invested in the movies, you’re going to be really pleased with this one,” screenwriter Stephen McFeely
Markus and McFeely the writers (I will die on this hill) of INFINITY WAR and ENDGAME talk about some of the challenges. Like how BLACK PANTHER, THOR RAGNAROK, and CAPTAIN MARVEL were not finished when they started writing.
Notably CAPTAIN MARVEL hadn’t even started filming. They mention they brought Boden and Fleck on set for Brie Larson’s scenes and that made me feel a bit better about the continuity of Carol’s characterization. (Since people were making me worried with the lipstick debate.)
No real spoilers, but apparently Ant-Man, having not been defeated and “kicked in the teeth” by Thanos, is coming at things with a different perspective than the rest of the team. But I sort of got that from the trailer where he was like “I gotta show you guys something cool!” and everyone else was like “what is this now?”
