Today berries are at the center of the drawingchallenge organized by #theydrawandcook. I chose the gooseberry. The gooseberry is perhaps a little less well known. It is a somewhat sour fruit that is often used to make jam. Because of the high content of pectin it is very suitable for this purpose. The gooseberry is, in the Netherlands and Flanders, also known under the dialect names steikbear, klapbesel, kroesel, knotzel or knotter. De kruisbes is misschien wat minder bekend. Het is een wat zurige vrucht die vaak gebruikt wordt om jam van te maken. Vanwege het hoge gehalte aan pectine is deze daarvoor heel geschikt. De kruisbes is ook bekend onder de dialectnamen steikbear, klapbes, kroensel, kroesel, knoezel of knoeper. In Vlaanderen is de term stekelbes algemeen gangbaar.
