Axolotl
This is a drawing of an axolotl. The axolotl is a salamander type of amphibian. They're unusual amongst amphibians, in that they retain their immature state when in adulthood. In this state, they retain their gills rather than grow lungs like other salamanders, so are restricted to living in water rather than on land. They also have the ability to regenerate lost limbs, as well as regenerate its spine, heart and other organs. They're carnivorous, hunting at night for crustaceans, molluscs, small fish, insect larva and worms, where they use suction to capture their prey. Their lifespan is up to ten years in the wild and up to fifteen in captivity.
