[hiiii ty for the ask, anon! i've been a bit m.i.a recently due to mental health stuff but im in recovery again soooo also marlene is my fave girlie so tysm]

Marlene has a very strict "getting ready routine" with times mapped out for everything she needs to do

she collects patches and wristbands from concerts/festivals

she sews the patches onto a jacket

she sticks the wristbands into a scrapbook alongside Polaroids from that night

she cuts her hair herself every time she gets out of the shower and notices that her fringe is a bit too long

she ALWAYS a pen and a tiny notepad with her so she can pass notes in class when necessary without having to take a page out of her school book

she LOVES blueberries, goes crazy for them and WILL fight you if you eat the last one

I am part of the minority that doesn’t actually see Marlene as blonde. I have always seen her as brunette.

Marlene McKinnon Headcanons 2.0

Not sure if I ever update my Marly headcanons, but here they are.

-She and Mary become best friends in their first year when Malciber assaults Mary for being muggle born. Marlene finds her in one of the corridors crying, and even though they aren't very close (yet), she's still concerned for her friend. It takes a while, but when Mary finally tells what happens, Marlene's hands are clenched into fists. Lily walks by, and Marlene has her stay with Mary, while she goes to take care of the dick who hurt her new best friend. (She punched him in the face and kicked him in the ribs, and he was in the hospital wing for a week.)

-Marlene bites her nails down to the beds. It's ridiculous, and everyone tells her to stop, but she doesn't.

-She loves muggle music. Lily and Mary introduced it to her in their third year, and ever since, she's been obsessed.

-She invites Lily, Dorcas and Mary to stay with her during the summers, and the girls all play Quidditch in her back yard with Gabe (up until fifth year), Mark, and Anders.

-Lily calls Marlene Marly. And not just because all her friends do. She does it ironically. "Like Bob Marley, because you're so chill." Even though she's NOT CHILL IN THE SLIGHTEST. She's the absolute opposite. She has so little chill, she's basically always on fire due to her LACK of chill.

-At first, her and Lily don't really get along. Lily is responsible, and Marlene is most certainly not. But, when someone makes a comment about Lily being a muggle born, Marlene steps in, and the two of them kick some serious ass. They're pretty inseparable after that.

-She grew up with the Potter’s. Their parents were friends during school, and stayed in touch after they left. Marlene and James were like siblings growing up. For Lily and him, Marlene was always the middle ground between the two, because she was close with both of them.

-The only time Marlene crossed a boundary was in second year when Mary and Lily were yelling at her for accidentally breaking their record player. The more they yelled, the angrier Marlene got, and finally, she screamed at them, calling them mud bloods. They didn't talk to her for two months and didn't forgive her for three.

-Marlene doesn't like Valentine's Day. ("Why should I only be shown affection and given presents one day of the year?")

-Marlene only wears a dress on special occasions, like a school ball, or a funeral. (Her black dress ends up with way more use than she ever meant it to.)

-She's pansexual as hell. "What's your sexuality?" "I'm about one color short of a rainbow."

-Her family is actually rather large. There's her mum and dad, Margaret and Charles McKinnon, and then her older brothers, Gabe (seven years older than her), Charlie (six years older), Mark (six years older), Anders (four years older), her twin Malene, and her younger brothers Finn and Leon (five years younger.)

-Charlie, Finn, and Leon are the only members of the family that aren't in Gryffindor. Charlie gets into Ravenclaw, while the twins are put in Hufflepuff.

-They are a family of Quidditch players. Except for Margaret, Malene and Charlie, the whole family played at Hogwarts at least one season. (Charles: Beater, Gabe: Keeper, Mark: Chaser, Anders: Chaser, Marlene: Beater, Finn: Beater, Leon: Keeper)

-They're very much a close-nit family. When Marlene comes into the common room as a first year crying because a seventh year Slytherin pushed her down the stairs, Mark, Anders, Malene and little James go find Charlie, and the five go kick the guys ass. When Gabe's date to hogsmeade stands him up, Marlene hexes the girls hair brush to set her hair on fire every time she uses it.

-Up until Marlene, Charlie gets into the most trouble out of the McKinnon clan. Everyone expects him to be a big stickler for the rules, due to him being in Ravenclaw, but that's all thrown out the window when a first year Charlie gets three detentions within the first week of Hogwarts. (Marlene beats the family record of detentions during first year by a land slide.)

-Anders is actually gay as hell, but only Marlene, Charlie, and Mark know. (Everyone totally knows. He's so gay it's not even funny.)

-Finn and Leon are the sweetest human beings you'll ever meet in your life. If anyone fits the epitome of a Hufflepuff, it's them.

-Marlene and Leon are the only two who are basically prodigy's at DADA. The rest of the family excel at things such as charms and transfiguration. (Leon is absolutely SHIT at transfiguration.)

Marlene&Malene twin headcanons.

-Malene is 10 minutes older, and NEVER lets Marlene forget it. ("I'm Malene. This is my little sister, Marlene." "MERLIN'S BEARD YOU'RE OLDER BY TEN MINUTES. IM TALER THAN YOU ARE ANYWAYS.")

-They get along best out of all their siblings, other than Marlene and Gabe.

-Being the only two girls in the family, other than their mum, they learned how to get what they wanted very quickly.

-They fight quite often, like sisters normally do. ("MALENE YOU GIT YOU STOLE MY JUMPER!" "IT WAS MY JUMPER IN THE FIRST PLACE!")

-They love each other like crazy, but won't hesitate to murder the other if needed.

-"IF YOU COME OUT OF THE DORM ROOM WEARING THE SAME THING AS ME AGAIN I SWEAR!"

-"IF YOU COME OUT OF THE ROOM WEARING MY CLOTHES I SWEAR I WILL MURDER!"

-While Malene never had much of an interest in Quidditch, she still supports her sister at every game, along with the rest of her siblings. ("Did you see that score?! That was incredible." "Huh? Oh, yeah. Go team. Do the thing, win the points.")

-Even though she loves her sister more than life itself, Marlene still has a rather hard time coming out to her. She's seen plenty of people who came out that ended up being kicked out and shunned by their own family, and she's not sure if she can handle that. When she finally tells her sister that she's dating Dorcas, however, Malene isn't pissed about her dating a girl. She's pissed because it had taken Marlene so long to ask the girl out. ("Malene... I'm dating Dorcas..." "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" "Malene, I-" "DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS?! I THOUGHT I WOULD DIE BEFIRE YOU TWO GOT TOGETHER." "Wait, you're okay with this?" "Marly, our brother is more gay than a rainbow. Did you really think I wouldn't accept you? If you did, you're an idiot.")

-Although many muggles call it a joke, they truly are telepathic with each other. We'll sort of. While they may not be able to have conversations through their minds or be able to PERFECTLY read the others thoughts, they can generally tell what the other is thinking, and they are both empathetic with the other. If one of them is upset, they both are. If one of them gets hurt, the other feels it.

-After Gabe dies, Marlene shuts down completely, not speaking and barely eating. So, due to the empathy the two have, Malene doesn't either. The two stay in their beds all day, Malene only leaving to bring back food for the both of them.

Random Marlene Headcanon #2

Marlene loved Quidditch, and was very skilled at it. Her position of choice and the one she excelled in was Chaser. She definitely could have gone pro if she wanted to, but given the state of the world she opted to become an Auror instead so that she was able to help people.
