If you had to take a guy to the ball, but weren't going to /do/ anything afterward who would it be?
So, who would I take as a friend? Probably Leon.
Ships.
You know there's something that bothers me, a lot...
The hate a person receives for telling others whether or not they like a certain ship in a fandom. Just because you don't agree with said person's opinion, does it give you the right to send them hate? And hurting them through it?
Here's the thing. I'll be the first to tell people that I don't like Blackinnon, I dislike it a lot. because I'm an vivid Wolfstar shipper.. That doesn't, however, mean that I will burn people for liking the ship. Everyone is fucking different people!
No you won't see me read Blackinnon fanfictions or search the Blackinnon tag, because I simply dislike the ship. As far as we know Marlene McKinnon was mentioned in the books but that's it, we don't know who she is, or what she's like.. She could be some old hag for all we know! But THAT IS MY OPINION!
There rant over. Have a good day people :)
Frosted Glass and Other Aesthetically Pleasing Things
Marlene drew a crooked line across the glass, giving herself a thin window into the outside world. Snow - everywhere, lying in blankets across trees, across the grounds, tumbling from the greying sky. A soft sigh escaped her, shielding the line in a fog of warmth until it had dissipated completely. She was, to say it simply, bored. It was beyond freezing outside, most of her friends were cuddled up in Hogsmeade - and worst of all, the House Elves had not received the latest order of tea leaves and thus she was without her daily cup of tea. Oh, the horror of it all... Deciding to scrawl her name in the condensation, Marlene dragged a fingertip across the glass... And squealed, tumbling backwards in surprise when a face grinned back at her. "Gideon, you idiot!" She grumbled, though laughter tinted her tone. Opening the window, she stared at the boy with a mixture of amusement and disbelief, shaking her head fondly at him. Before she knew what was happening, he slung an arm about her waist and tugged her into the broom, and she was rather high up off the ground. "Oi! St-stop it!" Not quite the keen flyer, Marlene shrank into his lanky figure, shaking hands gripping his arm. A scowl crossed her expression as a soft chuckle echoed in the air around the couple. "Come on, McKinny, adventure time? Just you and me and me again, and another you for that me, and maybe another us or two more or a br-" Gideon's ramblings were cut off as she turned her head slightly to look at him, "As long as you take me where I can get tea." She teased gently, grinning. Snow fluttered around them, laying to rest in her hair, the crook of her neck, her hood... Diamonds that littered her lashes, turned her cheeks a soft hue of pink. And in that moment, Gideon decided that he'd found something much more beautiful than the delicate flakes of snow they dwelt amongst...
The Box
“Gideon, love, what’s in the box?” Her soft, mildly exasperated voice twisted around the corner to where he stood, balancing a large cardboard box on one hand and attempting to quietly shut the door with the other. He had, of course, forgotten that Marlene seemed to possess a sixth sense for mysterious boxes. Particularly those of a cardboard heritage. “Um… Uh… Another box? Like those little Russian dolls, the Muggly ones, where they all fit inside each other and you’re hoping there’ll be some sort of cake at the end though there never is.” He suggested airily, lifting one shoulder in a careless shrug as though he himself had no idea what the contents of the box were. “Gid? I can hear something inside the box. Unless you’ve charmed cardboard…” Marlene appeared at the living room door, lifting one brow in amusement. “Come on, then, show us the box.” She took a step forward, and then another, but didn’t seem to be fast enough – one moment her fingers were just grazing the parcel, and the next the Prewett was dashing away, skidding on a discarded scarf of his and hiding in the utility room. “You have to promise!” He called through the door, “You have to promise that there will be no punchy or no pokey or no tickly. Alright?” “You’re an idiot.” Marlene shook her head, though a smile curled across her lips. “Albeit a loveable one. I promise upon my tea that I will not attack you, no matter what that box contains.” “Ah, goodie. It sounds hungry anyway.” Gideon rammed through the door, almost knocking over Marlene and setting the cardboard box on the kitchen table. “Hungry? Hungry? Gid, what the hell have yo- Oh.” Immediately cut off as the box was opened, Marlene reached inside, bringing out a mewling kitten. “Giddy… Where? How?” She grinned, cradling the animal close and giving a short laugh when it purred. And then she glanced up at him, gesturing to the fridge. “We have chicken in there somewhere, I’ll be snuggling on the couch.” She ordered, before slinking back into the living room. Gideon’s obviously-pouting-enriched voice followed her inside. “I want snuggles too…”
Love You More || Marleon
Marlene McKinnon walked along the grounds on her way to the Black Lake where she was supposed to meet Gideon. It wasn’t as if she was looking forward to going, all they seemed to do lately was fight and to be honest Marlene was getting sick of it. Why couldn’t things be easy? When would they learn to get along, things were fine when they were just friends right? They hadn’t been fighting then, they’d just been Gideon and Marlene, friends for life. The stupid feelings had to just ruin that bit and frankly, it was unfair and mean.
When she arrived at the lake, she sat down and looked up at the sky. Clouds above go sailing by. Marlene smiled and lay back as she watched the clouds. I found my meaning in this life. Would that be so bad? Having Gideon Prewett as your soulmate? Because basically there were worse people to fall for if she was being honest. Clear white is flying in my eyes, underneath a blue blue sky. She bit her lip, who was she kidding? She was in love with Gideon Prewett, fighting and all. The waves come rolling in with the tide.
“I’ve been away too long”, Marlene looked up, “and every day I missed you more.” She grinned when she saw the person in her thoughts walking over to her. “You look like you did before, only prettier.” She sat back up and waited until Gideon had reached her and sat by her side. “Hey Gid, how have you been lately?” Gideon winked at her and kissed her cheek, “Every day I love you more.”
Marlene wrapped her arms around Gideon and inhaled that particular scent that only he could give off. She smiled and planted one kiss under his ear, just like she did every single time they saw each other. There was nothing wrong with fighting every now and then, absolutely nothing wrong, it was healthy wasn’t it? That’s what she always hurt, that a little fight never hurt, as long as in the end, it would all be okay again, and that’s what happened, everything was always alright, just like it should be. “I love you more, everyday I love you more.”
