My first rifle was a Marlin 336.... I’ve moved beyond that but mine stays comfortably in my safe reminding me of some very special times.

Marlin Model 336 made in 1958

Got this rifle at a pawn shop for about $200. It’s a wonderful piece of Americana, still shoots just fine, and it is a rifle that has clearly been well loved. It may not be some super valuable rare firearm, but it’s a solid workhorse. A piece of forged American steel that does it’s job and makes no complaints. It’s clearly well-loved- worn, but not abused. Rode hard, but taken care of.

I don’t know who had it before me, but I’d bet it put meat on the table for many years.

Not my most useful firearm or my most used, but it has a character all its own.

I should probably have something more practical hanging here but I can’t bring myself to put this in the gun safe. It’s just so dang good looking.
