5 In The Chamber With Marly Mar
What is a “5 In The Chamber”?: A short, but effective 5 question interview with artists/creatives, providing the audience with insight into their process of creativity. For a more expansive dialogue, listen to the Audio interview (below).
Audio Interview: Part 1 –
Part 2 –
1. What is the current music scene in S. Carolina? If I had to describe it in one word it would be “upcoming” because its still a work in progress, but there are definitely some dope artists coming out of SC The main DJ’s doing their thing in SC are DJ Chuck T, DJ B-Lord, and DJ Kub. They pretty much keep the club and mixtape scene jumping.
2. What are some of your musical influences? 8 BALL & MJG, UGK, Geto Boys are my biggest influences. Some people say I am bringing back that “sound”.
3. Latest single/visual “Doing My Own Thing”, has a UGK vibe. Is that a fair assessment? Of course it is…ha ha. The beat pretty much took me there. I normally don’t harmonize on records. Shouts out to my producer 40 OZ . I just went where the beat took me.
4. “20 Junkies” is very raw. What is your difference, when making/talking “street rap”? With me there’s no difference between making and talking “street rap” because even if I am not currently getting down like that in life…I either seen it before or did it myself.
5. What was your mind state, while making “Money Is The Motive”? Actually man you know its a collection of songs I had but i was going through a roller coaster of things at the time as far as making it in life…so it def stemmed from that. I was chasing that paper moving around state to state working on my music and motivating the people. Get the money by any means necessary…Don’t care what it takes. We gonna get this paper was the mind state. Next up is the “Pyrex Dishes & Margielas” project, which I’m very excited about.
