Het Uiltje Bird of Prey IPA (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Lots of great tropical fruit in the nose and some faint light grain sweetness. Lots of nice fruity hop complexity up front and a very light, easy-drinking body. Not a ton of body bitterness, but quite nice overall.
Brouwerij ‘t IJ Zatte (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Smells like a classic Belgian tripel with spice and some light fruit. Nice dry body with quite a lot of yeast complexity to it, mostly spice-forward. Lighter-bodied, and some grassy and herbal notes in the finish.
Lowlander Winter IPA (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Definitely smells of the spruce and juniper and some faint wheat notes. Drinks with much the same in the body with a few discordant notes here and there. Nice medium and slightly creamy body, with more spruce/juniper in the finish.
Brouwerij ‘t IJ Red Rye Double IPA (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Smells mostly of rye and caramel malt with just a touch of pine. Drinks much the same in the body with mostly malt character dominant, but some nice resinous/pine qualities come up in the finish.
Brothers in Law New England IPA (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 2 of 4. Smells of some light tropical notes and some light grain sweetness with just a touch of fruit in the body. Not a ton of bitterness in the somewhat lighter body.
And Union Friday IPA (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Smells of orange and some relatively sweet caramel malt. Not a ton of lacing, and the body is a bit oily. Some firm bitterness in the body with a touch of pine, too, but not overly aggressive. Easy-drinking and lighter-bodied.
Brouwerij ‘t IJ Ijndejaars 2019 (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Lots of nice spice and fruit in the nose as well as some caramel malt sweetness. The 9% is well-hidden, and this has some nice complexity and warming qualities throughout. The body is lighter than you might expect, and is quite smooth and easy-drinking.
Brouwerij ‘t IJ Columbus (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Smells of faint floral/citrus hops and quite a bit of malt sweetness. Drinks with the caramel malt up front and some pine and fruit hop notes behind that. The alcohol does come out in the finish slightly, but it stays quite well-hidden.
