What’s your favorite book or book series that’s set in the future?? (AND, what are you reading this week??) . . . Happy Monday, Bookworms! Can you believe that this is the last week of February?? 🙈 I don’t know about you guys, but I have a massive amount of books to read this week, if I want to even read half of the books I had planned to read. I am so behind! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have no idea where to start either, other than to just finish the few I’ve been reading over the past month. So I’ll start there! 😆 What are you reading this week?? . . . And, do you like books that are set in the future?? I do! But I feel like I have not read enough of them. I was out all day at a different city today for work - mostly waiting at an airport. And I hardly slept because early flights make me anxious. 😑 Happy to get this photo out today though! . . I am really excited to finally get to Renegades this month! Archenemies comes out soon, so it’s good I’m just getting around to it now. I've decided to do the Goodreads Challenge this year! The Goodreads challenge is you promise to read ___ books for the year. So 365 days from now I wish to have read at least 24 books. I know I could be reading probably double that, but I do want to limit myself since I should be writing my own book. The first book out of 24, is this book: Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I am completely fascinated with fairy tales. I always have been. I loved to watch the classic Disney movies when I was younger, but I loved to read them even more! The book I absolutely love is The Grimm Fairy Tales by the Grimm Brothers. I did not know this is where many of the Disney movies originated from these tales. The tales left me in complete wonder. So naturally, I took a few classes in college about fairy tales. One class that I took was actually German literacy class. During this class, my professor had us read at least four different tales about Little Red Riding Hood and then watch three interpretations of the story in video form (my personal favorite is the one where Betty Boop is Little Red Riding Hood). I loved how the same story could be told over and over in many different ways, inspired by only the author’s interpretation of the famous fairy tale. I took many more classes on fairy tales after that, one being a writing class with the theme being Beauty and the Beast and another British fairy tales when I actually was able to do in England while studying abroad (it was mind blowing). Every since thing I was hooked. I will read anything I can get my hands on that is an interpretation of any of the famous fairy tales. Not only The Grimm Brothers, but also Aesop’s Fables, Charles Perrault, and Hans Christian Andersen. Which brings me back to Cinder. As soon as I saw that it was an interpretation on Cinderella, I was done: Here’s my money, I don’t need a receipt, everyone shhh! While I read. I am even more excited because I know that Cinder is just part of a series of the classic fairy tales, including a Red Riding Hood one (my inner fangirl is screaming for me to finish Cinder right now so I can move on the Red Riding Hood one already). I am so excited that this is the first book I will be reading for the beginning of the year. When I am finished I will be sure to review to tell you how I felt about it. But for now, SHHHH! I am trying to read! -SrG
