A Man Called Eddie

Chapter III:

“Eddie, this is Maddie, your extremely qualified replacement, and her brother Evan,”

Eddie twists in his seat to snap back at Josh, already far too irritated with how his beer has gone lukewarm and bitter. He’s not even tipsy yet.

“Actually, it’s just-“

“Buck?”

“Eddie!”

God, this might be in Eddie’s top ten worst moments. He can feel Josh’s eyes darting between both of them, May giggling not-so-subtly into her hand, and even Maddie looks completely mystified. All of a sudden, his petty outfit choices seem to be the worst idea he’s ever had, and the glitter on his cheeks feels like it’s burning his skin. Maybe he’s allergic.
