Now all the feathered inhabitants of the reeds have returned from their winter quarters and delight us with their songs. Among them, the Marsh Warbler stands out for its extensive repertoire. Besides singing, it has another hobby: playing hide-and-seek with the photographer.

One day you know nothing about a bird and a few days later you go out of your way 🥴 and spend a couple of hours trying to photograph it.
But the fascinating thing about this little guy is that he speaks different languages. I was in awe listening to him and recognizing blackcaps, chaffinches, tits, wagtails and whatnot in his song.
You wouldn't think so, but top bird right here. 🔝

August 30, 2021 - Black-browed Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus bistrigiceps)
Breeding in parts of China, Japan, North and South Korea, Mongolia, and Russia, these marsh warblers winter in Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Foraging near the ground in dense reeds, they eat insects and spiders. They build deep cup-shaped nests from grass stems and leaves and other materials where females lay clutches of four to six eggs. Both parents incubate the eggs and feed the chicks.

Confusing bird life in the reeds - I am not always sure what I am photographing ;-). I think it is a marsh warbler, a sedge warbler, a reed warbler and a whitethroat.
August 6, 2021 - Marsh Warbler (Acrocephalus palustris)
Breeding in parts of Europe and western Asia, these warblers winter in southeastern Africa. They eat mostly insects, spiders, and snails, as well as some berries in the late summer and autumn. Breeding from mid-May to July, they build deep cup-shaped nests from grass, nettles, plant fibers, hair, and other materials supported by several plant stems. Both parents feed the chicks. They are known for their complex songs which include mimicry of other bird calls.
