Last week I had the privilege of tasting arguably one of the best Martell cognacs I’ve ever had: the Martell Dame-Jeanne Vintage 1968. One the nose, it was bright yet elegant, full of light, delicate fruity notes that formed a thin veil over a richer, darker fruit undertone. And that’s just the nose. On the palate, that bright, fresh fruity note carries over but just for a flash, before those richer notes of dark fruits, hints of citrus and chocolates, mellow oak and honey kick in, finishing with a sensational shroud of mouth-coating velvetness. This particular vintage is an eaux-de-vie made with grapes from the prestigious Grande Champagne region, and is part of the second collection from the range, which comprises four exceptional eaux-de-vie. It comes in that cool-looking 11 litre demijohn bottle in a wicker basket. If you want the price, you’ll have to contact Pernod Ricard Malaysia directly. We got to try a dram of it at a recent dinner event where there were all sorts of activities, like a blending workshop with Martel Malaysian BA Bastien Michaud, and a fun reveal where we got to meet ‘Jean Martell’ himself LOL. #martell #martellmy #cognac #martelldamejeannemy #tipsyturvycognac #mytipsyturvy (at Changkat Duta Luxury Villa) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgbmCSzJjod/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
