I never read Malory Towers, but since I write Harry Potter femslash nowadays, I can sympathise with new perspectives on childhood favourites…

the gaeltacht i was at went out of its way to be straight if you get me ... like there was such an emphasis on boy/girl for the céili nights and whatnot. a lot of the teachers made plenty of snide remarks about gay people too which was pretty unnecessary. like it was great craic and helped me loads with the irish, i'd defo recommend going, but it wasn't the best place to be gay.

Sounds a lot like my time in Ring. I remember there were some themed ceilís and one night some lads came in in dressy sort of clothes and makeup and they were marched back to the dorms to change.

Oh boy, religion on tungle.hell is always fun. I was told I'm not allowed to consider myself a feminist because I'm a Catholic, and all religions are "inherently misogynistic". I think the writer of the post intended for me to denounce my faith for the sake of feminism but nahh dude I can support females and love God, try and stop me🙌 (also, bad as it sounds, if I HAD to give up one it would be feminism. Faith is super important to me lol.)
