An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
me: wakes up at 5:30am out of a dead sleep: wait, how come I’ve read 1500 fics where they’re both trans and not a single fic where they’re both ace THIS IS VERY UNFAIR, I’M MAD* also me: frantic 5:30am typing without glasses me at 9am trying to edit: what...was that word supposed to be...
*please keep writing fics where they're both trans, I love them

Jon, to the recorder: What could you possibly still want to hear?
Martin: Hi, I'm home!
Not to messily project all over Jonathan Sims but...
Aro-spec Jon who's in a romantic relationship with Martin, but always feels weird saying "I love you," because yes he... loves Martin, in that he cares about him very deeply, but he's not sure if he loves him in a romantic way.
And he's nervously ranting about this to Martin while pacing, and says that he feels like he's lying to Martin by continuing in their relationship because he doesn't have the same feelings for Martin that Martin has for him, but he's not sure what romantic love even feels like, and he's not sure how he would know if he did love Martin, but isn't that something people definitely know? So...
And Martin interrupts Jon, grabs him to stop his pacing and asks him very seriously, "Does this relationship make you unhappy or uncomfortable?"
Jon stutters out, "N-no! I'm... very happy. More than I ever have been. You make me happy. Being in a relationship with you makes me happy. I-I just don't know if it's fair to -"
Martin interrupts him with a kiss, gentle and passionate. "If you're happy, then I'm happy. That's all that matters to me."
"O-oh." Jon allows himself to drown in Martin's warm hug.
Peter Lukas: You shouldn't have come here; this is going to end badly for you.
Jon, famished and starving, now face to face with the one who has spent the past several months hurting Martin and trying to get Martin to sacrifice himself:
Ok but the sheer number of times that Jon told him to "stop", and Martin just said, "sorry"... Martin you have to stand up for yourself. Don't let him keep making you feel like you're doing the wrong thing. Grab him and forcefully drag him out of his self pity of you have to! Be there for him, but don't let him just mope around and telling you to stop interrupting his moping! You can do it Martin, I believe in you!!
Ok so the way Jon told Martin, "I love you"... I mean he's definitely said it before. It was so very matter of fact. Very, "Well yes obviously of course I do," so...
How many times has he said it before? When was the first time he told Martin "I love you"? What is their arrangement that "I love you" is an obvious fact? Are they officially dating?
Have they had the conversation where they sat down and Martin asked, "What are we? Because I mean, I need to know. To know for sure for sure. I love you too much to be uncertain about where we stand with each other."
And Jonathan "if I talk about my emotions it'll kill me" Sims, stuttering and stumbling, clarified in no uncertain terms that he was in love with you, Martin Blackwood, and would like to be in a romantic relationship.
Give it to us, Jonny!!
The thing I L O V E about Jon telling the rest of the archive staff how to quit (even though, as Melanie said, it was a struggle for him), is that it proves Martin was wrong about, "You just wanted to come to the one person who would tell you what you want to hear so that you would have an excuse to stay."
He didn't come JUST to you!! He came to you FIRST!!!!
