My life in design started many decades ago. I've been asked again to share some of my fashion sketches here on IG, and a little bit about my life and background. I was born in Columbia, SC and moved to NYC at 17 to attend Parsons School of Design to study fashion design, where during my senior year, Calvin Klein became my critic. . See 3rd photo. I'm the tall guy standing on the left. The seated man— wearing the light gray turtleneck looking at a sketch— is Calvin. He's looking at my sketches. Captured on film, this moment would change my life. The year is 1987. That next year, @CalvinKlein hired me to be a senior designer in his studio. I later went on to be VP Design for @Burberry, where I remained for the next 16 years during the brand's Renaissance. We moved back to the States from London in 2010, and a few months later I became Chief Creative Officer of @Belstaff and led the brand's reincarnation. . The photos of my desk show how I more or less draw today. . Though my recent focus has been on entrepreneurship and getting The Mr. P brand off the ground, I still remain quite involved in fashion. . The last photo was a portrait shot of me for a story about the Belstaff brand relaunch for Interview Magazine. I'm wearing my newly re-mastered Belstaff wax jacket. . . . #MartinCooper #lifeofadesigner #menswear #mensfashion #belstaff #tomford #sunglasses #instafashion #instamood #brandbuilder #storyteller #fashionillustration #mrpsplacecards #fashionsketch #parsonsschoolofdesign #fashion #instafashion #color #thingswelove #chic #mrp #thejoyeconomy #womenswear @parsons_fashion @parsonsschoolofdesign (at Old Chatham, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJqm78Ns5Hg/?igshid=1tp4mw9xwdc6h
