Molly Hooper Appreciation Week Summer 2021 Round!

So here we are, ready for another round of Molly Hooper Appreciation Week, the second one in 2021! This is the themed round with a week of posting; in February we will have some other type of fication to show out support for Molly Hooper.

This year, the theme is colors! Each day will have a color with a catchy title that's the main focus of your creations *the color, not the title of the day). And instead of a Free For All day, it's going to be any color of the rainbow that you want to use (or all of them...that would be nice too!). It will run from August 22nd, 2021 to August 28th, 2021.

Sunday, August 22nd - Black & White & Shades Of Grey (anything using black, white or grey as the primary colors)

Monday, August 23rd - Summertime Blues (anything using blue as the primary color)

Tuesday, August 24th - Red As A Rose (anything using red as the primary color)

Wednesday, August 25th - Bright Sunny Day (anything using yellow as the primary color)

Thursday, August 26th - The Grass Is Greener (anything using green as the primary color)

Friday, August 27th - Royal Purple (anything using purple as the primary color)

Saturday, August 28th - Free For All/Rainbow Hued (anything using any color of the rainbow or rainbow colors as the primary colors)

RULES:

- Any kind of fanwork you can think of is acceptable for this week: fanfic, fanart, fanvids, manipulations, gifsets (please make sure they are your gifs, though, and you’re not taking them from others without permission), meta, headcanons…anything you can think of that would celebrate Molly Hooper that would fit in with a theme (or just show love for her in general on Day 7) will be accepted with much pleasure.

- Be kind and respectful to everyone participating. We don’t want any wank because this is a week for sharing our love for a character who loves pretty much everyone we’ve seen her meet.

- If there’s something submitted that you like, please like it (or even better, reblog it so others can see it too)! If there’s a link to it on another website, go to that website and leave them love there as well.

- Any and all romantic ships are allowed. Het, femslash, poly…you ship it, we want to see it! We turn no one away. All ships are valid ships. Likewise, all takes on Molly’s sexuality and gender are valid for this week as well. Not everyone shares the same headcanons but we should all be respectful of others.

Teach Me Everything You Know

Just a bit of Martolly fluff involving pillow forts from an old prompt I had sitting in my files.

Teach Me Everything You Know - Martin's old friend Molly gets the idea to teach him how to make a proper pillow fort.

“I used to make really good forts when I was a girl,” Molly said as she blew on her mug of cocoa as they sat on her sofa. “My older brother, Stephen? He taught me everything he knew. We had a large yard in the back with some trees so we had one that stayed up for almost a year before a huge branch fell on it and flattened a side.”

Martin smiled as he pulled her closer to him. It wasn’t often they saw each other, but they had been friends since they were children, or at least before Molly moved away to Bozeat. He had missed her but it had been a surprise flight to Guam with her and a stern bureaucrat as the passengers that had reconnected them. It had been all hush hush at the time but now he knew she had been off to help the famous Sherlock Holmes, who’d been injured abroad and didn’t trust anyone else to take care of him.

Whatever the reasons, he was glad she had been on that flight. Whenever he could get to London, he bunked at her home in the guest bedroom and spent his time rekindling an old friendship. And it was nice; with Molly, he could be himself. She had never minded when he rambled about airplanes or was awkward. She liked him just the same.

But maybe not the way he’d realized he liked her. But she could do so much better, like Sherlock Holmes. Why would she want him?

“My sister always made the best blanket and pillow forts,” he said. “I never got the hang of it.”

Molly took his mug of cocoa and hers and set them on the side table before pulling away, getting off the sofa, and offering him her hands. “Let’s make one together. I have a linen closet full of sheet and quilts, pillows all over the place in two bedrooms, and I think the air mattress I had when Stephen brought my nieces should still inflate.”

Martin took her hands and let her pull him up, a smile on his face. Not the way he’d expected to be reconnecting with his friend, but definitely a good way to spend the day.

After a few hours, there was a rather nice fort in the middle of her sitting room with the opening pointing towards the telly. They’d used anything they could get their hands on that would help support it to keep it up, and the air mattress, he had to admit, was much more comfortable than being on the floor. There was a movie playing on the telly and a large bowl of popcorn between them and their refreshed cups of cocoa. “I can’t believe it turned out this good.”

“With your help, it is a masterpiece,” Molly said. “I may keep it up the whole time you’re here.”

“Then what are we supposed to sleep under? Everything is out here,” he asked.

“We’ll just have to share the air mattress and these quilts,” she said. “I mean...if you don’t mind.” He could see she was blushing and he leaned over and pressed a kiss to her cheek, almost near her mouth. Her skin was warm but she was beaming as she snuggled closer to him when he pulled away.

“I don’t mind at all,” he said.

Perfect Fit (An “In So Few Words” Story)

And here is the only new story added to my new series so far! It was a short little Martolly drabble written for @a-dark-day based on the prompt “holding hands.” It’s really short but really sweet.

Perfect Fit - To him, Molly Hooper is a perfect fit in his life in more ways than one.

She had such small hands.

Well, they weren’t really small. They were average, he thought. Not that he’d had much experience with girl’s hands. Women’s hands. Molly was a woman. But his hands were large and he had to admit he felt like so may things were too small in his hands but even though Molly’s hands were small they never felt too small. They felt like they fit perfectly in his. And it was strange because there were few thigs he felt fit perfectly. Airplanes, those fit him perfectly. Everything in an airplane was just the right size for his hands. His van was the right size for him. And his captain’s hat fit him just perfectly.

Molly shouldn’t fit, though. No one thought she should fit. His mum and his brother and sister liked her well enough, but they constantly said they were surprised she’d lower her standards for someone like him. And it stung when he heard that, and he never let Molly hear them say that, but she knew somehow. She knew and she’d kiss him doubly so after they spent time with his family and curl into him when they slept and even though he was taller and he should be holding her it was still a perfect fit.

And Douglas...Douglas had said one day Molly would see she could do better. Oh, now he adored her and she liked him well enough but she made sure to stand extra close when it was the three of them, to snake her arm around his waist and worm her way under his arm and she fit perfectly well there, too. She’d laugh at his jokes that weren’t barbed and she’d smile and she’d through a barb or two back when he got a bit pompous and he’d smile with pride because Carolyn and Arthur would chuckle and she fit in with his makeshift family just as well as she fit by his side.

And that was important, that she fit in with them. They were family, just as much as blood. And he wanted to fit in with hers. He wanted Sherlock to like her, and the Watsons, and Greg and everyone. And when he’d get nervous before a dinner or a visit to Baker street she’d slide her fingers between his, linking them together, small and big, and squeeze. That little squeeze gave him strength and, most times, the evening went well.

He couldn’t imagine a life without Margaret Elizabeth Hooper. He didn’t want to. He wanted her in every nook and cranny she could fit, every space she could fill. He wanted her as close as he could get her. And it wasn’t long before he went looking for something to slip on her finger that fit her as well as she fit him. When he asked her if she’d stay in his life forever, she said yes with tears in her eyes.

He knew then they were the best fit, forever and ever.

Molly Hooper Appreciation Week Fall 2019 Round!

So here we are, ready for another round of Molly Hooper Appreciation Week, the second one in 2019! Normally we have one round which is fill in the blank and the other that is prompts, but we're going to do things a little differently starting this round. The Fall round will be the week-long round, as it seems people have more time to write more days in August/September; the February round will last two days (February 13th & February 14th) with the prompt Galentine's Day/Valentine's Day/Singles Awareness Day as the overarching prompt as well as a ficathon, which I will start setting up in November (I would do the ficathon earlier but I get hit with the last of posting duties and mod stuff for WIP Big Bang in July/August so it's a pain in the butt to balance all that).

This year, the featured prompts are Tropes*! I got some lovely suggestions and whittled it down to six days of tropes that you may peruse for your pleasure.It will run from August 25th, 2019 to August 31st, 2019.

* As most tropes of the trope suggestions I got were shippy, most of these prompts will most likely involve a romantic relationship. However, while the below definitions show Molly dating, Molly can be an instrumental part of the fic and still keep a platonic status if you so choose:

Day 1 - Fake Relationship (where Molly pretends to date someone) / Secret Relationship (where the relationship Molly is in is kept secret for some reason) / Clueless Dating (where Molly and/or her SO don't realize they're dating but everyone else does)

Day 2 - Arranged Marriage (where Molly is arranged to marry someone she's never met) / Marriage of Convenience (where Molly decides to marry someone to make things easier)

Family Is Good For Moral Support

Family Is Good For Moral Support - When Sherlock's cousin Martin comes to Barts to look for Molly, Sherlock does his best to help.

“Is there a Dr. Hooper here? Or Ms. Hooper, I suppose, her being a surgeon. But wouldn’t that make her a doctor?”

Sherlock’s ears perked up at the sound of a frighteningly familiar sounding voice asking for Molly. Not that it was someone he knew, it was just so similar to his own. And that could only mean one thing…

“Martin, she’s in the basement,” he said, moving towards his cousin to steer him away from the receptionist at Barts before he made a fool of himself. “And yes, she is a doctor, but she is usually referred to by Ms. It’s a courtesy. But how do you know her?”

“Flew her to New York,” Martin replied, relaxing. He knew all about the dance his cousin and his pathologist had done...or were doing, but it didn’t appear he was going to let that deter him from seeing Molly. Good, Sherlock thought to himself; this particular dance was done, settled at the fact they loved each other but were not in love, and yet…

“I thought there was the Princess,” Sherlock said with a frown.

“It...didn’t quite work out,” Martin admitted, turning nearly as red as his hair. “I got some good advice from Molly on the flight and I talked to Theresa and we just decided, perhaps, it wasn’t the right time.”

“Seems to be quite a bit of that in our family as of late,” he said. “But you made a go. Mum will be proud. And...if you get over your embarrassment and ask Molly to dinner like I know you want to, Mum will be even happier because she’s disappointed I went with the ex-dominatrix and not the lovely pathologist who’s loved me for years.”

“You’re with a dominatrix?” Martin asked.

“Yes, your busy schedule does tend to keep you out of the family gossip,” Sherlock said. “Irene Adler. The Woman. Now off the market and currently awaiting her first child. Mine, by the way, don’t get any other ideas.”

“So Molly is...”

“Completely free to ask out, you’ll have no objections from me, you could certainly do worse. You already did better and while it didn’t work out, it’s a start.”

“Now hang on, are you saying--”

“I’m saying, you were engaged to royalty. You don’t get much better than that. And it was an amicable break-up, wasn’t it?” Martin nodded. “So there you go. We’re at least both in a better state than Mycroft. He can’t say two words to Geoffrey without it turning into a ‘please date me because I’m pathetic’ request.”

“Geoffrey...” Martin said as they got to the lift to the basement.

“Gregory,” Sherlock said with a sigh. “Also known as Lestrade. But it’s a game we’ve played for so long I find it hard to use his correct given name.” He jabbed the button to go to the basement and looked at his cousin. “Do you want me there for moral support?”

“You won’t embarrass me, will you?” Martin asked, a tad nervous as he looked up at Sherlock.

Sherlock shook his head. “That privilege is only for Mycroft. You did me a great deal of good with flights as needed when I needed help taking down Moriarty’s organization, so the least I can do is not embarrass you in front of a friend of mine who you fancy.” The lift doors opened and they got in. “And Molly deserves to be happy. I think you can. She’s busy enough she won’t mind a long distance relationship.”

“Er...I’ve left MJN, Sherlock. I’m with a bigger airline based out of London.”

“Then we’ll have to spend more time together,” Sherlock said before pulling his phone out of his coat. “I may have to dash before you get around to it. Lestrade needs me.”

“Oh.”

They lapsed into silence until the doors opened and Sherlock led him towards Molly’s office. He knocked briskly on the door, catching Molly’s attention. “My cousin has a question he’d like to ask. I suggest you say yes for your future happiness. And dinner’s on me, just go to Angelo’s.” Sherlock nodded to Martin. “Good luck.”

Martin went into the office, not closing the door entirely, and Sherlock stood outside, listening, just to be sure.

“So um...er, would you like to grab a bite? For thanks for the advice.”

“Absolutely! I know Sherlock mentioned dinner but I have lunch in thirty minutes, or whenever I happen to finish this paperwork. Would you like to keep me company?”

“Yes, I would. So...what exactly do you do, paperwork wise? Record results of autopsies?”

“Well, that’s just the start...” And with that, Sherlock pulled away from the door, smiling to himself. He had the feeling Martin and Molly would deal with all the rest of it just fine. Now, on to the business at hand with the case...
