…he liked her back? She couldn’t have imagined this even the ideal scenario she had for the friendships she had after this case was solved. She’d originally planned to confess later but Rise-san had pestered her enough after finding out the detective had an obvious crush she hadn’t realized for a long time and eventually convinced her to just go for it. 

“Uh… yes, that is the situation. I like you romantically , and… I’ve realized it has been the case for a while and - wait, you’re returning my feelings?!” She was now blushing slightly and rambling how she couldn’t believe it either, with a higher pitch she rarely used. It always appeared when she was taken aback or flustered.

“Yu-senpai. I am just… relieved and grateful the emotion I’m having isn’t one-sided.” She was now smiling brightly at him.

“Hey, Naoto-kun!” Chie waved at the girl as she ran up to him. “What’s up? You wanna do something together? I wanna get to know you better! If it’s okay with you, of course.” she chuckled with her usual smile. She knew the Detective Prince was busy with work even during summer, which is why she was totally fine with him declining.

Yukiko sat beside Yosuke at the food court. Looking around, she frowned a little.”Hey Yosuke, have you seen Teddy? I haven’t seen him all day..” He was usually around Yosuke, wasn’t he?

“Thank you, Naoto-kun.” he smiled at her as he nodded. How did she know he felt alone even if he had such amazing friends? Well, he was glad she was the smartest of the group. “How did you know?”

15. Kiss in the rain

Although Chie had watched the weather forecast before going outside to train this morning, her umbrella broke, leaving her soaking wet. Luckily, Yu found her and shared his umbrella while she shyly held onto his arm.

“Th-thanks so much, Yu-kun... man, I should bring a spare umbrella next time, haha. Talk about embarrassing...” Once she got home safely, she let go and kissed him on the lips as extra thanks. “Um... I’ll see you tomorrow at school, okay? I love you!” With that, she waved goodbye and went inside.

If you looked carefully at the detective when Yu agreed to her request you could see a glint of hope and excitement in it. She was internally screaming how this went way better than she expected, how lucky she’d been and that her problem was now temporarily solved. She knew she couldn’t always rely on someone she knew to tag along if she wanted to go to a place people didn’t expect the Detective Prince to be at but this was one step closer to her goal, right? She would most likely be encouraged to try visiting the movie theater on her own next time if this went well enough.

“That’s - that’s wonderful to hear. The meeting place you’re suggesting sounds good for me, it is simple and handy for both of us. Are you OK with going right away after school? The movie in question is showing a bit earlier than most ones and I’d like to be… not late, you know.” She sounded as calm as she could be in this situation: For crying out loud it was a new scenario for her to spend time with Yu-senpai without the petty riddle solving.
