gaku had to do all sorts of odd jobs in his past to earn money. being a rental boyfriend was just one of those jobs, but one he liked far more than any shady ones he had to do…

usually people just came to him to make their exes jealous. he'd be booked for a day to pick them up, act all coupley with them around their former partner and then never got to see them again

but when gaku met you, he was surprised you weren't interested in that. in fact, you had no ex to begin with, nor a crush on anyone!

and yet, you had asked for his services, to learn about relationships and get more experience, so that people at your school wouldn't tease you about it

gaku had very little experience with dating himself. all dates he ever went on were ones he was rented for. no girl or guy actually wanted a genuine date with him…

gaku actually opened up to you about that. he advised you to find another rental boyfriend with more experience, but was shocked when you told him you wanted to stay with him

even if your time together was paid for, the two of you began to form a genuine connection with each other! you got to bond over your inexperience and make some actual memories with each other

and soon, gaku kept thinking about you, even while he was on dates with other people. and you had that weird sting in your chest every time you thought about him going out with someone that wasn't you…

summary: gaku tries to cheer you up with some food!

a/n: there are so many days on the different routes where the characters are just going through it. so have some gaku trying to cheer you up, whichever route you're thinking of!

“i know you're there. open the door.”

you could hear gaku's voice from the other side of the door, followed by soft knocking. and yet, you couldn't bring yourself to get up and open the door. not even for him.

“i… i brought you some food i thought you might like–!” gaku called out, knocking once more. “i made it myself, so you know it's pretty good!”

gaku was trying to stay positive for you, to cheer you up a little, but even he couldn't keep it up for very long.

“look…” he sighed softly, the sound of a plate placed on the ground following. “i know how you feel right now. it's not easy for any of us. so i won't force you to talk to me. but please… at least eat something, alright?”

and with that, you heard gaku's footsteps slowly growing distant. you waited a moment, before opening a door, glancing down at the plate of food.

“he even cut the vegetables into tiny hearts…” you mumbled to yourself, fondly smiling, as you took the plate inside. you couldn't just ignore the food, after gaku put so much effort into it, after all…

gaku hearing "i love you" for the first time

gaku always wanted to have a loving partner, someone who loves him unapologetically, with all his flaws and quirks!

when he started dating you, he was super happy! but a small part of him thought that this was all too good to be true, that you'd end up changing your mind at some point and that he'd lose it all

so when you two were hanging out, laughing and talking together, and you suddenly go quiet and look at him, with an expression that gaku can't quite place, he starts to think; ‘this is it, they're sick of me and going to break up with me’

gaku grows quiet too, too scared to say something. then suddenly, you open your mouth and a soft “i love you” escapes your lips

gaku can't believe what he just heard. for a moment, he sits there, completely frozen. and as it finally sinks in, he suddenly starts to tear up

“i-i'm sorry! was it too soon!?” you ask, panicking and trying to comfort gaku, worried that you did something wrong. but gaku rapidly shakes his head

“nobody ever said that to me before…” he admits wiping away his tears. “i didn't know it would be so nice to hear it…”
