Happy Indigenous peoples day. As an American I live on stolen land. Land that once belonged to indigenous people. The Maruvians are based off of different groups of Indigenous Americans from South and Central America. So I made an Maruvian edit to honor this day. May the memories of all the indigenous peoples killed by Europe settlers or USA/Canadian governments by honored and never forgotten.

Antonia/Ixlan - I'd Be Your Wife

Thank you zo @kikakattioi for the insight in Aztec courting and marriage culture and to @unknown2006 and @lieutenant-amuel for suggesting the barracs and Tepet Mul for the proposal scene. And to @halloweennut for the idea of Quita Moz as the officiant. And to @unknown2006 for the short Council Chamber scene.

PLOT:

Ixlan joined the group a bit earlier than in the series and is around in the palace when Elena encourages Antonia to enlist. Antonia is smitten by Ixlan's warrior skills and the Maruvian takes her under her wing. With Ixlan's help, Antonia manages to defeat the other trainees who had made fun of her for being the only woman in the guard.

While being in the guard, Antonia still has her job as the Royal Seamstress and introduces Ixlan to modern Avaloran fashion. Naomi, Isa and even Elena notice that Antonia has fallen in love and try to get them together.

They become a couple and have adventures. Most of the time it is Ixlan who has to save Antonia, but when the Shades attack, Antonia canuse her new magic to save Ixlan who has found hermatch in the Weather Shade.

After training, Ixlan meets Antonia in the barracks to pledge her love and heart in a wedding proposal.  They go on a date to the Maruvian ruins to remember Ixlan's lost home, where Antonia offers Ixlan her own ring, which the surprised warrior gladly accepts. Some nobles are a bit intimitaed by Ixlan at the royal ball, but in the end everyone is happy.

Antonia and Ixlan get married at Tepet Mul by Ixlan's old friend, the sunbird Quita Moz. Having grown fond of Avaloran clothing, Ixlan wears a dress made by Antonia, while the Royal Guard herself wears a Maruvian outfit to symbolize the mix of their cultures.
