You had never actually heard of Ghost before that day. You’d stopped keeping up with the whole hero/villain business in the hopes that you would never encounter any of them in your everyday life.
So you missed the irony of an assassin known for being intangible running right into you. You were terrified for a moment, the red eyes of the suit staring back at you. But a movement behind them caught your eye.
Someone was chasing after them. A man, it seemed, also in a suit. Before you knew what you were doing, you grabbed their wrist and pulled them down a road, dodging people until the two of you were out of sight and you stopped under the awning of a building.
That’s when they disappeared from your grip and your sight. You gasped, staring down at your hand which was just grasping them and then she appeared once more, breathing heavily. You thought they might be tired when they took of their mask and you saw the giant welt on their head.
It was a girl, she hunched over herself, her breath hissing through her gritted teeth. “Thank you...” she mumbled, eyeing you suspiciously.
“Are you alright?” you asked, and reached up to see her injury, but she pulled away. Was she... was she afraid of you?
“I’m fine,” she snapped. Then, after a moment, she seemed to calm in your presence, meeting your gaze. “I’m Ava.”
