it would be funny as fuck if the yelena/john/ava/bob teamup actually got away from valentina without bob getting shot. events proceed like normal. they meet up with alexei, who is even happier to see that yelena has made not two but THREE new friends. bucky still flips the limo.
of course, when he's interrogating them, he wants to know who bob is. "bob? bob is just a guy we found." "yeah. that's bob." "bob was in the basement." bucky is tearing his hair out. wtf are they hiding.
(they're not hiding anything. bob is literally just this random guy they dragged with them on their escape.)
bucky might actually succeed in dragging them to the impeachment hearing as evidence. congressman barnes gets up to speak. "evidence of valentina's crimes: she hired this assortment of assassins and spies and mercenaries. ex-captain america turned mercenary, john walker. ex-shield spy, ghost. ex-black widow, yelena belova. former soviet super soldier, red guardian."
pauses.
"and bob. he was definitely hired. for. something."
Sentry doesn't gaf bro. he wants to get struck by lightning to see if it super-charges him. he wants to test his invulnerbility and rub it in John's face that he's stronger then him.
Bucky and Yelena are sleeping like fucking BABIES. two hardened assassins undone from the gentle pitter-patter of rain on the window and the satisfying crackle of thunder. Yelena is bundled up in her room, cocooned in a pile of blankets, sound asleep. she's fucking exhausted and she deserves it
I feel like Bucky's subconscious prepares him for gunshots, and the thunder briefly reminds him of the crack of a warm gun barrel. companied by the flash of lightning? sometimes he winces when a particularly loud stun of lighting and thunder happens, but he's learning to be comfortable with it. he can't help but remember his Winter Soldier days; when he was alone in a camp, waiting out the heavy rain and thunder so he could get some rest. he's still on edge, but now that he's in the safety of the Watchtower (and Sam's arms), storms like this can be oddly soothing.
Sam is ragebaiting John by the ceiling-to-floor windows. before going into the cadets, John was a Boy Scout, and he was GOOD at tracking weather and shit like that. Sam has too. they bicker over when the next bolt of thunder will strike, calculate the wind trajectory, count down for the next flash of lightning.
Ava and Bob are chilling in the living room, half-watching Sam and John bicker (Ava sometimes chimes in with a snarky comment) and drinking tea. Bob is oddly content like this, and moments like this remind him that the Thunderbolts were his new family. he wasn't abandoned in the rain and his father's booming voice wasn't as loud as the lightning filling the sky anymore.
Void is just standing there... menacingly
Alexei acts like Thor when there's a thunderstorm. he has his hands on his hips, chest puffed up as he looks out at the crackling sky. Yelena briefly woke up, went down stairs and spotted him, then just went back to bed. but honestly, Alexei loves thunderstorms. he loves how loud it is, he loves how beautiful it is, he loves how it makes the ground faintly tremble.
She's the second most powerful member of the Thunderbolts after Sentry, and I will hear none of the opposite.
Are we forgetting that this woman could appear and disappear at will WHILE taking stuff with her like guns or weapons. How did you think she was able to shoot Antonia? She shot the bullet while still invisible! This girl snapped someone's neck with a kick.
Physical strenght? Her frictions disappears when she is phasing but that's not what's important. She can literally put her hand in someone's body and kill them immediately while not even being seen. Are we forgetting that he was able to phase through Hank's neck?
Sentry obviously has so much power that she can't penetrate him (or however that works) and he is probably faster than her by a lot, but y'all can't tell me that Bucky, John or Yelena could beat Ava the motherfucking Starr.
Ain't nobody of them got a stark sonic cannon or a chitauri handcuff.
She's only limited by the writing and her own intelligence, but let's not insult that british beauty.
