DUCKVEMBER 01: Dead Duck Goose
Goose Rider comics that appeared in the original run of Spider-Ham are some of my favorites gags. Steve Mellor's chaotic style but attention to details has given me many laughs.
Marvel Tails One-Shot (1983)
In November of 1983, Spider-Ham made his first appearance in the Star Comics (the kid's division of Marvel) one-shot "Marvel Tails starring Peter Porker the Amazing Spider-Ham" before going on to star in his own title, which ran for 17 issues. Spider-Ham was created by Larry Hama, Tom DeFalco, and Mark Armstrong. Spider-Ham received new attention and popularity with his appearance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie voiced by John Mulaney. ("If He Should Punch Me!" Spider-Ham & Captain AmeriCat
Spotlight: Animals
Today @cathalinaheart is here to tell you about 2 universes that have our beloved characters as anthropomorphic animals.
The first is Bug World, a domain on Battleworld created from Earth-22312, in which both humans and intelligent insects live peacefully together. This universe was introduced in Secret Wars: Secret Love, featuring Ant, Wasp, Roly-Poly Hulk, Black Widow, Moth-Eye, Lucky the Pizza Bug, Thor-Hopper from As-garden and of course Captain Ameri-bug! It seems like the poor guy is unable to fly, as he is only ever seen up in the air when inside a bubble or lying on top of one. Tony Stark is a human in this ‘verse, but don’t let that stop you!
The next universe is Earth-8311, sometimes also known as Marvel Tails, or the one Spider-Ham is from. Set in the world where pig May Porker (while being radioactive) bit Peter the spider and turned him into Peter Porker, the incredible Spider-Ham (yes you read that right), the Avengers are called Sca-vegengers and are lead by Captain Amerikat aka Steven Mouser, with Iron Mouse by his side. In this world the Illuminati also exist and are called the Unhumanati! The world in general shows several similarities to Earth-616 (the main comic universe), but it’s much more lighthearted, fun and packed to the rim with animal puns!
Got any other Marvel-style animal puns to share? Let us know in the reblogs!
Goose Rider from Marvel Tails #1 by Steve Mellor
Hah, and this is a throwback to a classic Spider-Man cover, something that was even referenced in the Homecoming movie.
