FAQ
How do big bangs work?
A bang is a fan event, where writers, artists, and betas come together to release new content for the fandom. Each bang is run slightly differently, depending on who runs them. Big bangs are where writers release longer fics and collaborate with artists that create art for their fics.
What do I need to participate in this event?
You must have a Discord account, as that is the primary communication route for this event. Discord is where you will be contacting the rest of the members in your team, so you cannot participate without an account.
If you are a writer, you must have an AO3 account, as that is where the final fics will be posted and put into a collection. Writers can cross-post to other sites, but they must have a copy on AO3.
If you are an artist, you must be able to post your final piece on either Tumblr or Instagram. So if you are an artist, you must have either Instagram or Tumblr.
How do I sign up?
Sign ups will be posted on November 1st or 2nd and will stay open until November 30th. Sign ups will be available on both our Tumblr account (marvelcomicsbigbang) and our Instagram (marvelcomicsbb).
Can I sign up for more than one position?
Absolutely! You can sign up for as many as you’d like, and we trust the participants to know their limits.
How does claiming work?
Authors will submit summaries of their fics by December 10th. Claiming will take place from December 15th-20th and more info will be out after sign ups on how this will happen.
What happens if I don’t finish my piece in time for posting?
One-shots should be complete by the posting date. Multi-chapters should have at least one chapter ready to publish and be working on more (however, we would prefer if multi-chapters had their whole fic finished by posting date).
What happens if I need to drop out?
If you are an Author who drops out, then you need to inform the mods and your team that you are no longer participating. Your team will be given the chance to become Backup Betas/Artists if they want to.
If you are a Beta/Artist who drops out, then you need to inform the mods and your team that you are no longer participating. The mods will find a Backup Beta/Artist to fill your spot on the team.
What is a Backup Beta/Artist?
A Backup is an Artist/Beta who has informed the mods that they are willing to step up and fill a spot if an Artist/Beta drops. If you are a Backup we will only call on you to fill one spot, unless you specifically ask to fill more.
What happens if I do not respond to a checkpoint?
If you do not respond to three consecutive check-ins without informing a mod prior to missing it, then you will automatically be kicked out of the event.
What is the minimum word count?
One-shots have a minimum of 5K words and multi-chapter fics have a minimum of 10K words.
What is a team?
A team consists of an Author and the Betas and Artists assigned to their fic.
How do I contact my team?
You and your team will be assigned a channel within the MCBB Discord Server, so the mods can monitor. If you choose to contact someone from your team outside of the server, that is up to you, but the mods cannot be held liable in the event that something happens.
Can my fic be a sequel?
Yes. However, the previously posted fic must have a maximum word count of 5K and no more, so the Artists and Betas don’t have to do a lot of catch up. If it is a sequel, you must announce this during claiming, as well as the word count of the previous fic.
Can my fic be a crossover?
Yes. But the main character must be from Marvel Comics.
Can it be any Marvel comic?
Yes. It is not limited to just the 616, any alternate universe or reality is accepted as long as that universe or reality originated and exists within Marvel Comics.
Is there anything I cannot write about?
Yes. We have a strict policy against incest, pedophilia, rape, suicide, and graphic tortore. PwP is also not allowed, as is any explicit content. We also do not allowed the glorification or romantication of abusive or toxic relationships. You can still have these, but it must be explicitly clear that this isn’t healthy nor the norm. All of this is for the safety of the participants.
Are NSFW pieces allowed?
Yes, NSFW pieces are allowed. The only catch being that you cannot have rape, incest, pedophilia, or underage nsfw content.
Are dark pieces allowed?
Just like NSFW pieces, they are but only to a certain extent. Graphic torture is allowed, but it cannot be torture without plot. Suicide is allowed, but it must be off-screen.
What kinds of art can I make?
Anything you’d like! Some examples of art are sketches/drawings, moodboards, edits, playlists, etc.
Are there any requirements to be a beta?
Nope! Just be friendly and do your best! If you’d like a guide, @shelbychild made a fantastic one for another bang, linked here!
When will the fics and art be posted?
Posting begins April 24, 2021! All the final fics and art will be reblogged onto this blog, and the AO3 links and art will be posted on our Instagram! Everyone will be assigned a posting day, and a collection will be made on AO3 for the bang!

Introduce yourself: Hi, I’m Crys! I’m an overachiever of a writer who also procrastinates writing all the time, and I’m that comic fan who likes canon but slightly to the left. I am stoked to mod this event and see what everyone creates!
How and when did you get into the Marvel comics: Ironically enough, through my DC hyperfixation. I was a baby comic fan and I had gotten my grubby little hands on as much DC as I could at the time, so from there I checked out Marvel movies and read up on some storylines that were interesting to me (the first of which was actually DC vs Marvel), and bam, I was a Marvel fan.
Favourite Avenger/Character: Oh, so many. It changes all the time. I’m currently vibing with David Alleyne because I recently read the second volume of Young Avengers, but some past faves have been: Miles Morales, Kamala Khan, Nico Minoru.
Which Avenger/character do you relate to most: Xi’an Coy Manh (though in my personal canon, she’s Xuân Mạnh Tran because her canon name is for the most part not Vietnamese) because I, too, am a Vietnamese lesbian, and honestly, when I found out about her character I was so, so excited because Viet rep is so rare and she’s queer? Yeah, I love her a lot.

How and when did you get into the Marvel comics: After age of ultron I was tired of MCU and decided to try out the comics, and I loved fraction's Hawkeye from the get go
