MAR VISTA, CA

One of LA’s favorite homegrown street artists, Christina Angelina, aka Starfighter, has painted a series of successful collaborations with Ease One and Mar, as well as a couple of very high-profile works with Fin DAC and others. Having spent most of her life between Santa Monica and Venice Beach, Angelina recently added several collaborations with DJ Neff, prolific mural painter and creative director for nearby Mar Vista Art Department—including one piece the two worked on together in the Wynwood Arts District in Miami. In early 2016 Angelina and Neff painted this Mar Vista mural on Venice Blvd. wall in front of LAB Bicycles in the heart of a neighborhood being transformed by its quarterly ArtWalk, leading Angelina to comment that her neighboring hometown of Venice seems to have passed on the baton of support for small mom & pop businesses.  @starfightera-blog  @djn3ff  @marvistaartwalk

“REMEMBER WHAT’S IMPORTANT”

Dubbed by some, says LatiNation, the unofficial mayor of Mar Vista’s art scene, Mitchelito (Mitch) Orquiola’s art is everywhere throughout Venice and Mar Vista. When he started his career more than 25 years ago he says his art didn’t fit into any categories established by galleries, and there was no one around to lend a helping hand. When the Mar Vista ArtWalk began in December, 2015, strengthening the neighborhood through love of the arts, Orquiola was quick to jump on board and make it happen and as Executive Curator for the ArtWalk he knows everyone and is now in a position to be that difference for many in the community. This 2016 wall on the side of Mar Vista Cleaners is dedicated to the community and Orquiola enlisted help from several other local artists including Chalavie, Jen LaVita, Erika Lane Enggren, and PinkRiches, offering a series of positive wishes and advice for peace in the neighborhood.  @mitchelitoorquiola  @chalavie  @j.la_art @poetry.lane  @bepinkriches  @MarVistaArtWalk
