Just found out one of the shirts I designed was featured on a Buzzfeed list... WOW!! A shirt I made featuring an image of Mary E. Britton, the first black female doctor licensed in Lexington, KY. Inspired by a Michelle Obama quote. #NewTshirtAlert Recently discovered Mary E. Britton, read her story and made a shirt of her. She was the first licensed black doctor in Lexington, KY. She was born free in 1855, got licensed in 1902 and began to treat patients in her home because white hospitals would not treat black people. She later became an activist and journalist writing about the Jim Crow laws and fighting for better living conditions of black people and the women's movement.
