Hey all! It’s been awhile, but this is Mary here. I have been really busy over the past seven weeks with Walt Disney’s Second (Annual?) Frozen Summer Fun at Hollywood Studios!
About two months ago I saw a listing requesting merchandise cast members to submit interest forms in a new Frozen Summer Fun offering: The Ice Palace Boutique. The Ice Palace Boutique was to be a unique summer offering that resembled a Frozen-themed Bibbidi Bobbed Boutique. Princesses between the ages of three and twelve would get to be transformed into Queen Elsa, Princess Anna, or Olaf! Being a Frozen Fairy Godmother In Training interested me, so I submitted a form. A few weeks later I received a phone call asking me to come in and interview. I sat down with a beautiful woman named Tanya, who was responsible for opening both Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques and The Pirate’s League. It was the best job interview I ever had. I called my mom afterwards and told her that it didn’t matter to me whether or not I got the job, I was just glad to have met Tanya.
The next week I was offered the job, and the very next day my training as a Fairy Frostmother began. We were immediately licensed to braid hair in the state of Florida. We spent three days practicing hair styles, theming, and how to handle various situations. We had a soft opening that weekend where cast members and their children came to be our guinea pigs. And then we were open.
Over the course of seven weeks, I was blessed to get to be a Fairy Frostmother to 75 snow princesses and ice harvesters. I was even given the opportunity to help frost my cousin Anna while she and her family were visiting from Northern Ireland! It was a very rare opportunity, and I could not be happier that I got to be a part of her transformation experience.
Friends came to visit, I doled out a lot snowdust and frozen wishes, and I had the most magical summer getting to be part of this opening team. Princess Anna even came to our “Fairy Farewell” to thank us! The Ice Palace Boutique has melted away with Frozen Summer Fun, the Fairy Frostmothers have returned to The North Mountain (read: our old locations), but the friendships made and families I met will stay with me forever.
I hope I get to return to the boutique life in my future Disney journey. For now it’s back to Main Street USA to ring in the holiday season with Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween and Very Merry Christmas parties!
