I asked Kobe’s adviser how he’s doing in class, if he’s still quiet and doesn’t recite. She said yes, still the same. I folded his card and was about to leave when she told me that they discussed a poem about people living near rivers. She then asked the class to send an emoticon, which shows how they feel about the poem. She said, among all the students she has taught, Kobe is the only student who had no reaction.🤦🏻♀️ I don’t know if I should be scared.😰 Are you a psycopath or a sociopath?😳😅 Anyway, keep it up, babe!👏🏼 Proud of you always.☺️ But why are your Math, BS, and ICT grades lower than last quarter?😏 And, oh, I finally got your ID! Now it feels more legit that you’re actually a #MaScian.🥰 #AGATiu #JuniorHighschooler #MaSci #MSHS #JuniorHigh #GradeSeven #ReportCard #Outstanding #IGotItFromMyMama #ProudMom https://www.instagram.com/p/CpUuDrTpQsijiEblAMR0aVaCDNEp8Bnje1FOyk0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I thought he’d get line of 8 grades, especially subjects taught in Filipino, and expected the worst (maybe a line of 7!🫣) in Filipino, because he said he failed their quarter exam!😒 So, this was really a surprise!😅 Good job, babe!👏🏼 I know you can do better. You just lack focus, because you play games while you’re in class!😤 Please don’t wait until the deadline before you do your schoolwork. I know you’re an introvert, and you don’t like chatting on Messenger, but you need to communicate with your groupmates when you have group work.😏 And please say “po” or “opo” when you answer or talk to your teachers, particularly your Music teacher, so that he won’t lecture you anymore.😅 #AGATiu #JuniorHighschooler #MaSci #MSHS #JuniorHigh #GradeSeven #ReportCard #Outstanding #IGotItFromMyMama #ProudMom https://www.instagram.com/p/ClF2xuypeGFgCmzZv-GXIe_DJmfIz4WdQGIIfM0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Manila Science High School. I don’t even know where to begin. My dream high school. To be honest, the special science curriculum was just a side thought for me because what I was really after this school was life-long friends. It did not disappoint. This stemmed from my mother’s experience here. She was also a Mascian and this is where she met her bestest friends. Growing up, I was always at a Tita’s house where Mom and her friends would catch up on each other’s lives. They shared their cries, laughter, and love. They were always together that it was inevitable that her friends’ children and I became friends too. Bithia, Tita Veluz’s daughter, is in fact my best friend but we’ll talk about her later. So yeah. I wanted to go to Masci because I wanted that kind of friendship. And I am so so so so grateful and blessed to have found these people who make me smile everytime I see them.
High school is so much different than elementary and this was my first time moving to a different school and being in a busy city such as Manila completely alone. It was a lot for 13 year old me. Aside from the great pressure to perform well in my studies I also felt the pressure to fit in with my peers (a thing most teenagers deal with I’m sure). Funny story is that our friend group was formed because all of us had been bullied and trash-talked by this big group of students in our Grade 8 class. After an open forum where they said all their problems with the people in our class, me and the other people they insulted kinda became each other’s support and started to hang out and boom. The Squad Squad was born (for the record I did not make that name, it was Emman). This group of people have been with me through thick and thin. Through every quiz and exam. Every school competition. Every mental breakdown. Every loss. Every victory. The lowest of the low and the highest of the high. We’re each other’s cheering squad. Always ready to lend an ear whether good or bad news. Always ready with a shoulder to cry on whether it be tears of joy or sadness. Always open for a hug for comfort or even just because you want one. Honestly, they are my happy place. We all have our own individual faults but what I love about our friendship is that we make each other better. They accept me for who I am but they also correct me when I’m wrong and tell me how I can improve myself, my knowledge, my principles, and my perspective of life, in general. I love the version of me when I’m with them.
As Grade 9 arrived we were separated into different sections but that never became a hindrance in our friendship and I always looked forward to passing them by in the hallways or during break. Enter Grade 10. It was a conflicting year for me and my friends. The moving up ceremony looms before us and it was time we had to make hard decisions about what we career we really wanted to pursue. Our last school year together since Masci will only offer STEM, some of my friends opted to leave and some opted to stay. I always thought that I was gonna stay in Masci for senior high but I surprised everyone, including myself, when I applied for Lasalle.
I was never afraid that moving to different schools will affect our friendship because I know that what we have is something real and will last until our next life, if there is one. Besides, Vito Cruz is just one jeep ride from Faura so we’re not really THAT far from each other. With our extremely busy schedules, being complete for a hang out becomes increasingly difficult but when we do get together it’s like we never left and we’re all still classmates again. I am beyond thankful for coming upon a timeless friendship with the most wonderful human beings I’ve ever met.
