something i really really dont understand about anti mask folks (mostly on the left bc lets face it most right wingers have no empathy or community care drive) is just.. why would you choose against doing something that makes your community safer? why would you choose the option that makes life harder and worse for some of the most marginalized folks out there? it is genuinely such a nice feeling for me to just be wearing a mask because I do when i go most places and for someone to come up and tell me that theyre glad I am or that it makes them feel safer going out. why would you choose against community care and safety and still call yourself a leftist? if you constantly talk about mutual aid and caring for your community but refuse to even wear a mask I don't really want to hear what you have to say tbh

I'm wearing a mask bc my roommate has COVID and I'm not anti mask in the slightest but I really can't breathe in a mask and idk why we pretend otherwise. I feel like I'm gonna pass out after wearing it for several minutes. Maybe it's in my head? Are you guys able to breathe in these? I'm in very good cardiovascular shape

& another benefit of any mask, homemade or not, is that it reminds other people to keep their distance from you. Something can have a certain effect when dealing with one person (ie a neckerchief may not do anything meaningful to stop viral intake in a lab), but have a different effect when in an environment with multiple individuals (humans or otherwise).

What’s wrong with wearing a face mask in the car? Aren’t you supposed to minimize the amount of times you take it on & off, so it’s smarter to put it on at the beginning of running errands and not take it back off until you’ve left the last store?

You're not gonna get covid19 if you and people you live with are the only ones getting into your car. Virions aren't getting sucked up into your car intake in the summer heat. Not to mention some forms of face protection can occlude field of vision and make driving less safe. Masks are for crowded, close quarters where many people are coming and going such as a grocery store, where their mucus droplets are aerosolized and free floating. Only time you should drive with a mask is if your in a taxi or Uber.

As for gloves, unless you are literally swapping them out for fresh, sterile ones after every time you touch a surface or handle something, you're just contaminating everything you touch. And then people don't wash their hands because they wore gloves and think they're safe. You're wasting PPE that health care workers could be using, and you would be the same off if you just used your hands normally and washed them when you came home

I can be a jerk when people are making one of the worst public health crises in 100 years worse and endangering the lives of others by not taking the time to educate themselves with a quick Google search on proper PPE protocol lol

A guy came to the farm stand today wearing one of those masks that say “This mask is USELESS and so is the GOVERNOR”.
