Keeping Afloat!! (Mason McCormick x Reader)

Notes: THANK YOUUUUUU @summersretrorevival I love a Mason fic always

It wasn't always easy, especially for Mason, he had to do everything, keep his grades up, practice for his football every chance he got, try to keep his house afloat and Tex alive and well which considering Tex was pretty out there, proved hard

But there was one thing he didn't have to force himself to do, one thing he didn't have to spend all his energy until there was none left to upkeep something that'd just make him relax, make him happy to simply be around

And that was you, he didn't have to be too responsible or act serious, sure he was himself, truthful and blunt the same he is with Tex but maybe a little more tender when he wants to be with you

He didn't have to worry with you, he just had to be himself and that's all you wanted, he made his effort but at the end of the day he'd collapse in your arms and relax, he noticed he'd take short power naps more often thanks to you

You had just gotten home from some extra curricular and you threw your bag down, Mason gave a grin "Tex is with Johnny" he states as he approaches gently wrapping an arm around your waist and kissing you

You look to the small dining table just to see the already naturally lit room slightly more lit thanks to a total of maybe four candles on the table and some cheap spaghetti made up on the table "Look at you Mace, fancy" You hum with a smile

"Not really, but you deserve fancy, so y'know I figured there's no harm in trying harder" He says with a little shrug, honestly really was the best policy in his books, that made you almost laugh as you shook your head

"Thought that counts huh?" He says with a shrug and you kiss his cheek "uh huh" You make your way to the table as he nods "Cans, they're a life saver" He shrugs, yeah sometimes that honesty bit him in the ass, but you found it funny

"I know" You say with a laugh and sit at the table, you can’t help but smile softly, you knew the effort Mason put into this even if he didn’t want to seem too sappy by telling you so, so you just sat down and looked across at him

“It’s alright?” He asks as you try some of it and you nod “always” and he shakes his head at that and you shrug giving a smile “what! I’m not lying, it’s good, Em” you called him ‘Em’ (M) sometimes he always liked that

He gave a deep breath and shrugged before finally talking “Look, I know I don’t show it or say it enough but- I really do love you, you’ve been there for me” he pauses “and my idiot brother for longer than I ever would if I was in your shoes”

You just smile and lean across the table, kissing him gently before pulling back “and I’ll keep on doing that” he can’t help but let the smile creep on his face, you were just happy to have him, and hell he was beyond grateful for loving you

Basketball Team Manager!! (Mason McCormick x Reader)

Notes: ABSOLUTELYYYYY!! I've had this in the vault for a wee while now so pretty please enjoy (I wrote the start while on a three hour roadtrip, very cute fic in my totally unbiased opinion) and oh my gosh Mason is so hot I won't lie he's such a cutie @summersretrorevival

You had no clue why this was punishment over after school detention, honestly, you wished you'd asked if you could just get detention, but here you are, being a manager for a boys basketball team you didn't even care about

Handing water bottles to boys, the types you didn't particularly care if they all just, didn't drink water full stop, they were all annoying, cocky rude and stupid, you stood beside the bench

Letting your thoughts take over your brain, just zoning out until a boy gave a huff, standing beside you with a little bonk of the wall he leaned on you looked back up at him, Mason McCormick

You'd known him a while, who didn't know him? That was the better question, everyone at school knew him, he was a little tough, you could tell from the resting bitch face, but every girl seemed to like him, just made you dislike him more

He probably thought he was so cool! That idiot, you were just sick of him, plain sick of this whole team, half of the boys had either made a pass at you, it was either that or a blind insult they rarely ever realized was rude

"You alright?" The smooth and decently low voice slowly rang through your ears as he raised an eyebrow and you blinked, realizing decently quickly now that you'd been staring straight at Mason

You'd been staring at him while thinking about how much you hate him even when you were having to consider the fact you'd never spoken to him, you were pissed about being the team manager

"I'm alright, sorry-" You look back to the game as he's put back into the basketball game, throwing his jacket back to the bench as he jogs back out, cutting you off, you hum a little

Sure he's good looking, but you don't think he's stunning, he's handsome sure, you just shake your head of those thoughts, you look back to the coach who's just cheering and having a great time considering the team is winning

When the game was over and the team officially won, you were left to gather your stuff to go home, and along with all that stuff, was Mason McCormicks jacket

You asked every basketball player on the team you could find if they wanted to drop it back to his house, none of the boys wanted to, but they gave you his address, it was like they were praying on your downfall

You knocked on his door preparing the "sorry, here, bye" but instead a much younger boy answered as he pulled a boot on, hopping on one foot as he opened the door with his shoulder

"Hi" He gives a friendly grin and seems to roll his ankle when he tries to stomp his foot as a method for putting on his boot "I'm Tex McCormick, what do ya need?"

"Uh-" You glance a little at the interior of the house "I just wanted to return this jacket to Mason" and Tex gives a bright grin to you, a real sweet and friendly looking one

"He's out back, yard work, come on in! Just take a seat and I'll get him" Tex says with his smile and you shake your head "Ah- no I could never- you can just-"

Tex waves his hand passively "Naw! I insist, c'mon, ain't no issue with me!" He gently pats your shoulder and you walk beside him finally and plop yourself onto the couch

Waiting now, tapping your thigh with your fingers, just drumming with your fingers, as you hear Tex call "Mace! Your girlfriends here!" and Mason call back "I don't have one!"

And Tex calls "Well there's a cute chick on the couch! She came here askin' for ya! The one you spoke about! Said she was cute!" And there's a bit of noise at the back door before Mason enters "What the hell are you-"

He spots you immediately almost freezing, he's a little sweaty and his hair is pushed out of his face, you stand and hold out his jacket, he takes it shaking his head

"Sorry 'bout Tex, he's a real little shit- that stuff he said was just him-" Mason says shaking his head and you smile a little "I don't mind if it was the truth" You freeze

"Oh- anyway- see you at uhm- see you at training" You nod and Mason whose cheeks have reddened like crazy just gives a nod "yep, see ya, bye" and you get out as soon as possible

You can hear the muffled sound of Tex taunting Mason but somehow, you can't help but smile, wondering if maybe, just maybe, it was true, maybe Mason did like you, hell that'd make being basketball team manager a lot easier
